Anyone seen these before?... just seen an advert on FB for it.. looks interesting.. tempted to stick one under the carpet of my car...

Track it down. From anywhere
If an item goes missing, TrackR's Crowd GPS network will help you find it. When another user of the TrackR app comes within 100ft range of your lost item, you will receive a GPS update of where your item is.

An old iPhone with a PAYG sim secreted somewhere with some power would work well enough wouldn't it?

Hmm so it only works if other people in the area have the TrackR app... presumably it's a Bluetooth low energy device and it gets the GPS location and sends the alert from the smartphone.

Yea an old smartphone or one of those cheap eBay ones are your best bet.

There's nothing you can do if they bring jammers and detectors to the party, but it's better than nothing.

Bumping this thread, I'd like to get a tracking device fitted to the fiesta. If I put one wired to the battery, I assume anyone stealing it will just disconnect the battery. So probably need something like an Apple Airtag. But, because i don't touch kids, I don't have any apple products,

Can anyone recommend a decent little hideaway tracker that has something like a battery back up in?

This seems to tick the boxes, and I'm happy to pay a monthly subscription if it actually works

I have an FMT-100+ from the same company on my M6 and I can’t fault it for the price.

Their target market is really small fleets and business and the app isn’t exactly pretty, but it works.

I've used cheap eBay ones before, with great results. Should be able to find a tracker with it's own battery, that has a little hardwire kit to hook it into the cars battery.

The last one I used ran for about a week on it's own internal battery.

That was an older 2G/3G system, they are turning off those networks now so I don't know if it'd even work anymore.
