s**t to hear about the rear beam..

How was the company overall? That's where I was planning to go to get my car corner weighted.
Richard was very good, good comunication when booking in (via FB messenger). Very proffesional when I arrived, explained what he had done etc. Car felt great on the way home. Happy to recommend!

That's great to hear, can't wait to get coilovers fitted and properly set up! Good luck getting the rear beam sorted!

brilliant, mines not in too bad a condition so that dye may just spruce it up a bit, thanks :)
The dye is evil stuff if you get it on anything other than what you're trying to dye and it changes your skin colour for about a week so be careful :ROFLMAO:

oh and I lent her my car so she could still get to a customer meeting.

Engine light comes on halfway down the M62.

How many times have you needed to top it up since Monday? Surely the first time would be a clue that something wasn't right? 🤣

Needed doing Tuesday after it'd been to work and back, I figured that's not too bad as it was the first time it'd been driven properly.
Needed doing again Wednesday evening, which really it shouldn't.

No gasket for the waterpump, just two O-rings to seal. Didn't seem like the best design, think it's probably one weeping.

My youngest is coming home from the Falklands today, so I got his car ready by reconnecting the battery and giving it a good clean. To my surprise I found the door slightly ajar and evidence that someone had been using it as a crack den.

There was a torn-up can of beer left in the footwell, likely used for their fix. It seems they cut themselves badly, as there was blood all over the car 🤢

It took a couple of hours to clean up, but I can still smell cigarettes. Welcome home to Britain son 😂

Proper dick move. Where was the car stored?
It was on his property under a car cover. His driveway is really long and has tree cover so fairly secluded.

All the straps were tight so you can imagine my surprise when I saw the door ajar. How they squeezed in is beyond me.

His girlfriend said she heard the dog barking near the gate last week when it was chucking it down. So I guess it was just a one nighter to seek refuge from the storm.

We’ve looked at the ring door bell footage and a chap can be seen exiting the property at 6 in the morning after a good nights kip 😂

His camera was in his glovebox and other items of value, but those were untouched, which was awfully nice of them.

that's before and after having ago at the headlamps because some c**t has lacquered them and the shitty 3m kit wasn't having any of it. Arse.

Done a couple of guvvys this week.

All the faults stored and recalibrated in ten mins.

2 - Meg 250 diagnosis and repair.

The owner was local and got in touch with me. It was misfiring on cyl 1 and had been in a garage for comp test/parts swapped cyl to cyl and no joy. I suggested it could be a cracked head but went to look at it with fresh eyes.

Pulled number 1 plug and the lad said thats 4 aint it 😆 borescoped it, looked fine so refitted plug and a spare good coilpack. Started up and running sweet. 15 mins to fix.

Finally had enough of the melted wheel and half chewed toffee interior trim, so go around to removing the sticky crap from the interior plastics and fitting a retrimmed steering wheel. It's a much nicer place to be now

Finally got round to changing the exhaust mounts. Ended up buying some off Ebay for £13 to replace the PMS ones rather than spending £30 per mount from PMS directly..
No adjustments made and think the fitment is pretty spot on

I've ordered them as well, going in the spares box.

What was the reason for replacing them, heavily worn already?

They were pretty perished and only holding on by one point on each of them. They had really started to deteriorate over the last month

A couple of things on today's list. Had a mate of mine helping out too, which was certainly appreciated!

  • Needed a small patch sorting out on the offside front arch liner.
  • The horn had stopped working.
  • The xenon bulb had stopped working in the offside unit.
  • Swapping out a very tatty nearside headlight unit for a much tidier one.

  • Wanted to freshen up the front cross-beam area with a bit of POR15 that I had left over.

Started late this morning with the front end looking a bit tired.

Surface cleaned most of the frontal area and got that painted up. Headlights swapped out for two replacement units that needed new adjusters (such a s**t job to do) - do headlight units really need to sealed shut?

Horn now working fine - connectors weren't corroded, just caked in crap and benefitted from a clean. Headlights both working as should and the arch liner got sorted out too. Pretty constructive day, though I just wish the dark inserted headlights weren't like unicorn's teeth to get hold of. Still not a fan of the light grey inserts - even when the headlight units themselves are in very good condition. To me they just sun-faded and a bit naff.

Let this thing see daylight for the 1st time in 3 years & the engine bay looks like Pablo Escobar was a former owner, so gave it a wipe down with a damp cloth then put it away with a cover on it this time

I'd like the thank the designer from Kia, who thought it was a good idea to bury the diesel filter behind the battery and behind the ECU. Making a 5 minute job, much longer.

but I'm not going to call him a total dick, because including a handy little plunger on the top lets you re-prime the system without needing an OBD tool. Decent for a car they made till 2018.

They put it there because no one changes diesel fuel filters 😂
