20 years ago today, I did my first ever trackday in my 7 month old Clio 172 Cup. Google reminded me earlier, so here's a 33 year old me and some 172 Cup love

Jeez. How was 117kg removed out of an already light car?

If it wasn't involved in making the car go, stop, or turn around corners, I had it removed.

Unsurprisingly I weighed EVERYTHING that was removed, logged it on a spreadsheet, and also weighed the differences between seat removed vs installed etc.

I completely ruined that car. It went well though LOL

Sad story that.

He kept taking more and more weight out of it until there was nothing left but a steering wheel and he had to run around the track making brmm brmm noises. Was light as hell, but admittedly performance did suffer slightly
He just held an air freshener in front of his face to make it feel like he was still in the car as well.

@MarkCup any idea where this car is now?

My best guess is that it's still owned by the two chaps that bought it from me (a couple of business owners with Castle Combe as their local circuit), doing what it so loved doing, being regularly beaten around a track.

It's MOT has never been renewed since a year after I sold it (2011) and it was last seen a couple years ago, on a trailer and sporting a roll-cage, and oddly enough still wearing the YE53 ZKW plates, on a motorway on or around Bristol if I recall correctly.

Would you buy it back if it came up for sale? Or , f**k no! I thrashed the crap out of it!
