Also, I forgot to mention as I'm quite sleep deprived. The legend that is @Louis came round yesterday and adjusted my PMS shifter as well as cable tying up some other bits. It feels better and I can get it into 2nd better, I'll have to take it round the car park at work and give it a proper test, I need to bed the brakes in slightly anyway
Once again, the PMS Whisperer comes in clutch

This year I decided to camp (mainly because I have a new tent I want to get my money's worth out of) because I felt like I'd been left out for the last 2 years. Plus at Anglesey it was a pain in the arse to get back to the chicken nugget caravan or the garden shed
Thursday I washed the cars and trailer, it was stupidly hot. Big mistake, it took me ages because I had to stop every 10 mins to save me from melting
Arrived first. The 5 series was toasty warm after caning it down the backroads
Track pics. The Clio was well behaved all day, apart from me needing yet another pair of tyres. I seem to be wearing the outside edge a lot more than I used to. Maybe time for some more camber and more pressure
Next things for the Clio
- Heat management. I almost killed @Sir_Dave because it was that hot inside the car. So...
- Roof scoop
- Nimbus heat shield on the bulkhead
- Get the rust and rot sorted on the sills (this winter)
- Engine time. I might need to find someone to help with this, I don't have the time
I may end up taking some weight out too. I always find it quite lardy

Swapped the AR1 for some Hankook Ventus RS4. Managed to snap them up for less than the price of 1 AR1. Only reason for the swap is I'm wearing the AR1 down so quick on the edges that I wanted to have a play with something new

in the area at the moment. Seem to be forcing their way onto any field etc, the f*****s took over the local football field this week leaving a right mess behind

First of all, what a circuit! So glad I was able to tick it off my list of tracks I wanted to do
Started the morning going out and building confidence, a few steady laps to get everything to temp and then back to the pits to check tyre pressures and wheel nuts (once it'd cooled a bit). First impressions is that it's so fast but so technical, a couple of hard braking zones and a lot of places where you can get it really wrong!
Went out for a second session around 10.30 to be suddenly greeted with the most horrific loose feeling every time I accelerated. I limped it back to the pit garage at a steady 30mph
Got it up in the air and couldn't really see anything untoward
The passenger side wheel studs were a bit loose but had only backed out half a turn. I whipped all of them out, cleaned the threads and put fresh loctite on them. I did the same for the drivers side and checked the rears which were all fine
13.45 I go out for a 'steady session' with @Rskennedy and Pete (green Caterham). I take it easy and get everything back up to temp as it was stone cold. A few laps in Rich still wasnt anywhere to be seen so I start giving it sends because I've got the trailer, so f**k it. If he dies, he dies
After a few laps of death it clears up and starts feeling loads better. At that point I chill out and wait for Rich and we have a little bit of a 2 man train going on for a fair few laps. Rich then departs and goes back to the pits and I keep giving it sends. After another 10 mins I get bored of being on my own and getting gapped by much faster cars so I come in
It was that hot for the first time EVER, my fan comes on! I just assumed it didn't work!
Another session out and no issues to report, I started finding the limit of the Hankooks cos I was driving like a fuckin knob, so much that I went 2 wheels off the track at sunny out
Last session of the day, me and Rich were about on pace with each other so we kept swapping between who was leading and who was following. He's quicker in some places and I'm quicker in other places so it makes for a good little battle
Then disaster
Rich said my car elected a new pope as he inhaled enough smoke to put @DaveDreads out of action. Smoke f**king everywhere! I'll have to get the footage from my GoPro but it was horrendous, genuinely thought the car was gonna go up in flames so I jumped out, usually I wouldn't but it smelled so hot and putrid

Glad it wasn’t an engine and you weren’t on fire. When I was coming back to the pits at the red flag and saw the fire response team on track I got a bit worried.

Get that wrap off the exhaust manifold mate asap. It just absorbs oil and becomes a fire risk. Hideous stuff.

I think I'm gonna try and get it coated in something like zircotec as well as putting actual heat protection on the bulkhead
Dont worry mate, he made me take loads off last time and it went in my eyes.

Personally, I’d put some heat protection on the bulkhead and leave the manifold as is.
