Anyone going for the iPhone 18 / Pro / Max?

I still got the iPhone 13 Pro Max and was almost going to go for the 17 Pro Max until i heard about the scratches and I’m on the look out for the 18 Pro Max, the Cherry Red looks nice like. Anyone on any older models or do have the 17 Pro / Max and what there thoughts on the scratches on the thing? Heard there's going to be a price hike around an extra £200 due to the shortages of hardware. Still could go for the 256GB storage as not using much storage but 512GB could be an option as futureproofing it

I have the 17 pro max (for almost a year), no issues with scratches or anything. I had the 13 before that so will stay with the 17 for a while.

I’ll pick up one of the 17’s to replace mine, visited Apple store & one of the staff was saying the 17 was the bargain of the bunch. How true unsure but not a fan of the huge phones.

Think that’s quite unanswerable until they’ve confirmed what the iPhone 18 actually is. I’m not down for a foldable phone if it is one.

There will be conventional phones too, the fold will no doubt be the flagship.

I can’t imagine there being anything groundbreaking with this one. And with ram shortages will make it even less of an upgrade than the last one. But that’s just my speculation.

Also still using a 13 pro max, the rumoured £1300 - 1400 is a lot for a phone so I might switch to the none pro, apart from the camera they don't seem that different anymore.

I’m still using a 14 Plus. Can’t think of anything that’s pushing me to upgrade at the moment other than the cameras have come on quite a long way. The thing about the bigger phones is the battery, they can pack more in so you get better endurance and when the battery does start to degrade it’s not so much of a deal.

I just popped onto the Apple website and other than the 17 you can still get the 16 and 16 plus, doesn't mention the pro or max. When the 18 does come out, is it still possible to get the 17 / pro and max from Apple, if and if its if the price hike does go up maybe the 17 pro max is still an option and be cheaper too, do still like the orange colour and as @mumpy no issue with scratches.

Very unlikely, usually the old pro phones get discontinued completely and the base phone becomes “the cheap one”. So it’ll probably be 17, 18, 18 Pro.

With memory and storage supply constraints as they are now, who knows though.

I'm on 14 Pro and battery is completely shot, I know I could just replace it but fancy a new phone... will be buying on Apple finance so won't really notice the price increase.

Next year's is probably the one to go for though, being the 20th anniversary.

Apple finance (via Barclays) has been great. Genuine zero % finance - got my previous two iPhones that way.

Still using my 15 Pro at the minute - no real need to change for me just yet. My mum is still using her iPhone 8S Plus!

Yup. I need to buy this, on a 15 pro still and I’ve always been a two yearly man.

Got a brand new screen on mine through insurance (and got a new case too) and now it feels quite pleasant again however. But I want a better camera

I recently changed from a 13 mini to a regular 17, and whilst not a reason for the change, one of the things on my mind is the way things are going now it's likely that the jump in tech won't be a much as it usually is due to component costs, or the cost for the same level of device will be increased.

I'm not a massive phone upgradey person, but made sense to go to the 17 now for me (running out of storage on the 13 mini, my eyes are getting older and the bigger screen is handy, and needed a second phone to use for work so the mini got demoted to that).

Will be interesting to see what the specs/prices are for any new kit.

I will be going for the 18 pro, on a 15 pro now and battery doesnt last and with the latest updates its so slow and has no space despite removing everything off it.

Weird, even on my 14 I have no performance issues at all.

The space thing could well be an iOS bug, the system cache can grow uncontrollably. A reinstall will fix it if that’s what it is. You can tell by checking your storage and seeing if “system” is taking nearly all the space.

I've got about 148GB free storage, not sure where to go for the 512GB or just keep on the 256BG and just keep ontop of the storage if it gets more fuller. My mam has my old 10 max and i'll be passing the newer one on too. the 13 pro max is heavy , will the 18 pro max a little lighter?
