I love this car.
I shall be the 1000th reply, yes I shall. X

The springs are what keeps tension on themGood effort bud. I don't trust those spring retainers myself, always just use some lockwire.
No sir, I don't think you shall. 1,001 for you xI love this car.

Also, I forgot to mention as I'm quite sleep deprived. The legend that is @Louis came round yesterday and adjusted my PMS shifter as well as cable tying up some other bits. It feels better and I can get it into 2nd better, I'll have to take it round the car park at work and give it a proper test, I need to bed the brakes in slightly anyway
Once again, the PMS Whisperer comes in clutch

Tbf 1001 is the 1000th comment on the 1st post.
I still have an engine stand, so I may be tempted to do one last engine build. Let me know what your idea is for spec and we can see what can be sorted.Engine time. I might need to find someone to help with this, I don't have the time
I may end up taking some weight out too. I always find it quite lardy
You heard this @dann2707 ? Bet you didn’t have a hedgehog appear when you were in the shower and you weren’t sat around guessing Guinness world records after many beers smhThis year I decided to camp (mainly because I have a new tent I want to get my money's worth out of) because I felt like I'd been left out for the last 2 years.
The chicken nugget caravan will always hold a special place in my heartYou heard this @dann2707 ? Bet you didn’t have a hedgehog appear when you were in the shower and you weren’t sat around guessing Guinness world records after many beers smh

Aye I will be mate, it's now soaked in shiteGet that wrap off the exhaust manifold mate asap. It just absorbs oil and becomes a fire risk. Hideous stuff.
Dont worry mate, he made me take loads off last time and it went in my eyes.Get that wrap off the exhaust manifold mate asap. It just absorbs oil and becomes a fire risk. Hideous stuff.
Personally, I’d put some heat protection on the bulkhead and leave the manifold as is.Aye I will be mate, it's now soaked in shite
I think I'm gonna try and get it coated in something like zircotec as well as putting actual heat protection on the bulkhead
AND failing miserably...This was the last session of Croft with @Rskennedy trying (desperately) to keep up with @Brigsy
Why didnt you tell me. Id have come over in the week you little cretinAfter the car die a small death scare at Croft I decided to call it for trackdays this year. The cars been absolutely mint for the past 2 years needing only small fixes
So to pay it back, I think this needs addressing

Which tbh, it's not as bad as I first anticipated. The front jacking points and outriggers will be done at the same time
But because I'm a mong, I can't just leave it there. So I decided I wanted the inside painting, so I stripped the interior back

But then, if the interior is getting painted, surely it makes sense to take other bits out too?...

At this point we're escalating. Fast
I needed the car prepped before Monday evening (tomorrow). So started hamfisting the f**k out of all the sound deadening. Which meant doing something absolutely retarded
I will preface this, I didn't have anything hot enough to melt the material, and I was STRESSING to chuff that I wouldn't get it done in time
Here's the f**k up

So now the roof needs sorting
This was the end of Friday

Its a w**k of a job that, have heard that dry ice does a decent job but never tried it, can definitely not recommend using a wire wheel on a grinder unless you want black s**t everywhereThis morning was a fresh day, a fresh head and a better idea of what not to do
I started by getting the blowtorch on the roof sound deadening. By god this made it so much easier! If you're going to do this yourself, a nice robust scraper and a butane blowtorch is perfect
View attachment 1803334View attachment 1803335
With that easily tackled I turned my attention to the rest of the sound deadening that I didn't hit beforehand

All the sound deadening out
View attachment 1803339
This is when I started to test petrol Vs isopropyl 99.9%
Petrol wins. It was 50x quicker, that's not an exaggeration. That was one small wipe with petrol on the left
View attachment 1803333
Absolutely blitzed through the rest of the cleanup. I went through at least 5 rags cleaning all of the glue off. I then took out as much of the bulkhead matting, I wasn't going to at first... But then bad side of brain took over

Big bag of sound deadening removed
View attachment 1803344
Guess the weight, this doesn't include all of the chunks Hetty hoovered up. I reckon she got the best part of a kilo out
Tomorrow I need to clean up some more stuff, remove a load of unwanted and un-needed brackets, take the side skirts off and then give it a clean ready for 5am Tuesday morning
Itll get the arches welded up, rolled, front jacking points welded, interior painted, roof sorted, roof scoop painted (and fitted), and I've made the last minute decision to remove the aerial so I'm hoping if it's not too much of a pain they can weld up that hole and paint the full roof
Whilst it's away I'll still be buying parts for the engine build in the background. I reckon it was a CV boot at Croft
Either way I reckon I'll get 2 new shafts, or recondition 2 I have in the garage
The next time you and I see the car it will have less orange
I tried the wire wheel on the grinder, the sound deadening just laughed at it!Its a w**k of a job that, have heard that dry ice does a decent job but never tried it, can definitely not recommend using a wire wheel on a grinder unless you want black s**t everywhere
Yeah thats what i found best, petrol in the cuts are a bonus touch tooI tried the wire wheel on the grinder, the sound deadening just laughed at it!
Heatgun did f**k all
Blowtorch and scraper, then petrol and a rag worked absolutely perfectly
