PH1 172 > 225 conversion.

Car  Clio 182
Who can help with wiring & shafts (mainly) for fitting a 225 to a PH1 172?

I pretty much got everything on the shelf/ coming in to make the swap happen I think. 🤔

I did this and regretted it massively.

Car too much weight over the front end that didn't suit the mk2 shell
6 speed box as standard and small wheels was a pretty s**t combo, meant my hand was on the gearstick most of the time.

If I could turn back time I'd happily not do it again without serious mods to the gearbox to make the gears longer.

Used an me221 standalone ecu which was okay, although Chris at efi told me someone else had one on his dyno and it just randomly wiped the whole thing clean during mapping lol.

Ahhh that’s good to know! Trouble is everything to make it a nice NA or even boosted is ££££ in F4 isn’t it 🤣

I basically got everything except shafts & ecu.

What shaft setup did you do?

Yeah it is.
I used a welded set up which worked quite well despite them looking a big janky - I don't know who made them in the end though.
Ill try find my thread for you as I documented literally everything

I can imagine 6 speed box and 15s on stock 225 turbo makes for changing gears quite often. Mine aint too bad with the gtx3071 as can use 75-7800rpm, but you do notice different rpm drop to megane when changing gear driving normally, it feels like you could skip a gear here and there and wouldnt notice.

Haswell said the megane diesel ndo ratios were very good in it when he ran them.

That's how I felt mate
1st gear was pointless and I never used it
3rd too.

Diesel ratios sounded like the way forward. It just felt like it should have been decent on a 5 speed box.

15s definitely didn't help at all but looked so good.

I was on the meg 250 turbo so not sure how much that differs for power delivery compared to the stock 225
