Renault alarm is now fitted and working, came with Renault docs and certificates.
The guy who fitted it for me put everything in the same places as the Renault guys in Southampton where they are retro fitted to to all the UK cars. The car is now as far as I can tell, UK spec and I defy anyone...
Hi
Ive got a bit of a weird one for you, dont know if anyone else has this, but I have noticed a strange noise between 5500-6500 rpm.
It sounds a but like its comming from the front left of the engine bay and its had to describe, its almost like a harsh hum, similar to a deep kazoo or...
The police loved em but only when they were driving them!
Lotus Carlton was indeed a great car though, we used to lust after them when I was a kid.
5 seats and room for luggage for a weeks holiday and at the time they would blow away most of the available super cars.
Ive only seen two on...
Ive decided against the Sigma now.
The fitter I found can get the original Renault upgrade alarm and fit it for £260
£400 is a lot to pay for the Sigma M series, I was quoted £250 for that alarm with the keycode pad.

Hmmmm I noticed the same thing on a Vaxhall once, think it was a Carlton (one of those big old ones) it was green had big old wheels and a body kit, looked quite smart if a bit big.
Mind you it took off like a rocket!
Strange

(please note this is joke I know exactly what it was...
I found found a guy in the South East who will do the Renault alarm at trade and just charge fitting.
He came highly recommended and has plenty of experience (20 years!) and comes to the work place if required.
Supply and fit £265.50
My local Renault price £375!
Deal done, the new...
Anyone know of any installers in the South East who deal in Sigma alarms?
They look pretty good and work with the existing imob on the import to give a full CAT1 system.

Chogg
Have you got any corespondance proving the 1st of March 2001 thing. I called today and they said that it was 1/1/02 and that I had no waranty :(.
If you have something proving the March 2001 thing that it will boost my case when I write to Reanult.
Cheers

Yep
I got screwed by Renault today, called up with my VIN number and the girl looked it up on the system. Turns out that despite the fact that my car was registered on the 13/1/02 it was delivered by Renault on the 12/12/01.
This means that I miss the 2 year waranty which was instigated on...
Found this on the net, there are a couple of sections worth noting
Perform all these installs at your own risk. Know how to use all of your shop equipment and take necessary safety precautions when performing ANY modifications and or maintenance items to your vehicle. Seek the advice of a...
Ive just dropped in to my local Renault dealer in Sevenoaks, Kent they want £230 to do the 12,000 including pollen filter and fully synthetic oil £202 with semi synth.
Is that in the right ball park or are they extracting the urine, sounds a bit steep to me but I havent had a main dealer...
Right Renault Sevenoaks want £375 to supply and fit their alarm, so thats out straight away.
Im open to other suggestions which will work with the key.
I spoke to another firm who cant do one to work with the key and want £220 to fit and alarm £350 to tear out the Renault stuff and fit a...
Oh the other thing I would REALLY like is the ability to run the alarm off the existing remote key.
I really dont want to throw more than £300 on this if I can avoid it, it has an imobiliser already so I dont need to works.

Anyone got any suggestions?
I dont want to spend a fortune but the ability to add a windows up module would be a bonus!
A make and model number would be a good start

Yep I think your right
Ill get some co-axs for the rear and fit them at the weekend, thats the first job done and then well look at comps for the front and consider the pros and cons of taking the dash off myself.
If that hasnt got enough punch then Ill run the speaker wires out from the...
Youre right John the only thing I am about wary about is taking the dash off in the 172. You have to do this to get to the tweeters and although its no TOO complicated I have a really nasty feeling that I would end up with all sorts of rattles and bits sliding about under the mouldings after I...
I think it will have to just be a speaker change for the time being. The HU seems to be OKish quality but the expense involved in adding a new HU (buying a remote convertor etc) is a bit prohibative and as I am getting on a bit now I dont like my music as loud as I used to!

What do the side badges on a UK standard 172 MkII say? Do they say 172 or 2.0 16V?
My car is an import and has 2.0 16V.
I wondered if the UK says 172 can these be purchased to be retro fit?
If so how much do they cost?
Cheers

I remember some maniac on the net who used to sell what was in essence a spark plug which fitted to the end of the exhaust, when triggered it supposedly ignigted any remaining petrol in the exhaust gases and sent out flames!

Hey Evil Ice
Just a quick thread hijack, but do you guys for fitting?
If so how much would it be to supply and fit the Ground Zeros mentioned above and the matching rears plus a suitable amp to the exiting HU in the 172.
