Anyone know were the 3 letters (STW or XKR or somethin :S ) are stamped on the steering rack for the identification of which rack it is, These are needed to order the correct track rod end just spent half an hour on back with mirror and a torch searchin for it  , Looks like rippin the rack...
The cambelt kit with belt + 3 new pulleys is £140 from Renault and £18 for the Aux belt.
I can get it done for you parts + £100 labour on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday, I'm Just south of Doncaster in Harworth not too far from Derby
Dave
There is small amount of play in the track rod end, Parts guy in Renault did not specify how much of what unit it was just told me it was not the joint on the end which is all that is needed as this is the part that wears, I would doubt also it would be the full rack for £54 :D
Dave
Anyone know what steering rack is fitted to Mk2 ph1 172, Motorist discount has shed loads of track rod ends listed but the guy in Renault parts told me it is one fitted from Laguna, Renault don't just sell the track rod end but a full unit at £54
the ends are £15 from motorist discount if I can...
Don't worry I should imagine most of the guys (and girls) on here are pretty young, I am 36 so have had a few years to build my motor collection and a few very good buys + sales along the way, Just waiting for 2008 now so I can change the EVO and get my dream car Merc SL55 AMG :D  .
Dave
Pic of my Evo 1 week old at Cadwell for the Mitsubishi Lancer register trackday,
No I did not put it on still had plenty of running in to do
The missus has the Evo for work (rather her have the 4WD safety) I usually cycle but not going to during the winter and I wanted a track car for next year not brave enough to throw £30K Evo at the scenery  ,
Will post some pics of the 2 together when I get chance :D
Dave
Remember seeing a thread on here about replacement engine mounts (yellow nylon I think) anyone know were to get them or the thread searched but cannot find it
Cheers
Dave
Not sure were to look, Handbook says there only 2 identification plates 1 in window 1 on drivers door pillar, Had a look under the drivers seat but could not see a flap like on a Ford and the multichanger is in the way, any clue to actual location
Cheers
Dave

I'm sensin a lot of jealous negativity ;) , As I say its a winter hack, a toy and future track car, I have a £30K Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR as my main car, If the clio breaks I replace engine, scrap it/ throw it away for that sort of money :D

Cannot see one under the drivers seat but 1 under windscreen matches the 1 on drivers door pillar, Handbook only shows these 2 places and not under drivers seat.
