Can't really tell if it's genuine, I haven't touched it in the 2 years I've had it. Looking at other pictures I seem to be the only one done up with a button head, and it looks loose. But even so it shouldn't really move it downwards.
Yeah I'll try and look if it's bent. Is it easy enough to...
Hey,
I've noticed a bit of rubbing between the tensioner spring and the aux belt. I was wondering what may have caused this and what I can do to keep them apart. Clio 172 53 plate.
Here are some pictures, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help. I gave the throttle body a quick clean first and I haven't had any issues since. It's going in for a CV boot replacement which hopefully wont be too much hassle (renault quote was worryingly high compared to my local) so will get it plugged in then to double check.
Hey guys. Just bought myself a 172 :)
I'll give a timeline of any relevant issues and then hopefully we can narrow it down to find a solution.
53 plate 69k miles, FSH with Cambelts/dephaser etc done 13k /2 years ago.
Test drive was fine.
Driving home I noticed that the Cruise Control doesn't...
They're about £15-£20 but giving it a clean can sort them out, but then if it was giving up then you might be stuck in the middle of nowhere when it does fail.
Temp gauge should go up to halfway and never really move unless you're in traffic for a while or something. Has the coolant level dipped from where you filled it up to? Also the fan only comes on when the car is overheating so that's normal.
Yes fill it up with water to the max line. This should solve your erratic engine temp and weak heater. You will need to test the antifreeze level before it starts to get really cold but you can worry about that later since if the coolant level has dropped that much is means there's a leak...
Might be no fuel as well I'm not sure. But the guy who tested it says the immobiliser is being deactivated at the switch (and thus dash light goes off) but it's still showing as active on output of ECU via diagnostics. So a wiring fault somewhere but after checking the easy and likely places it...
Ok so I sent it off to see what a garage says and they tell me that the immobiliser is switching off the dash light but isn't disarming the immobiliser so no spark. They haven't been able to locate a dodgy wire anywhere and now advise to send the ECU off to have the immobiliser removed :( Does...
Yeah looks like it. Gunna have to find a torx set and spark plug socket.
Just to confirm my ABS light illuminates when using my battery but jump starting it makes it go away. Could this just be a slightly flat battery or would an earthing fault on my car stop it being jump started?
No it wasn't a blue one but the connectors looked immaculate. I'll revisit the TDC with new plug and the blue model once I've swapped relays over. Really need to get the plugs out to see if they're wet and or sparking and that should help me out a lot.
Hopefully the tool isn't too much of a...
Ok next plan of action is replacing the engine control relay, I believe it does the spark plugs and injectors which would stop it firing even if I can hear the fuel pump.
Apparently there's 3 relays, one for Engine control, one for starter motor (obv fine) and one for radiator fan (presumably...
Hmm, replaced the TDC and now jump starting it from a DCI 80. Which solved the ABS light but it still wont start. I can here the fuel pump prime but with lack of a spark plug remover I'm not going to have much luck checking for a spark or fuel.
s**t.
Hmm that's interesting. So your ABS light came on while turning over (not starting) and then you replaced the earth and it still wouldn't start but the lights didn't come on anymore.
I wonder if just the faulty earth would stop it starting.
Hi there. I've had some problem with my K4J Clio in that it wont start. I'm going to give the TDC sensor a clean tomorrow so hopefully that solves it. However I've become a bit paranoid about what lights come on the dash when turning over the starter motor after watching some youtube videos of...
I just did it on my MK2 PH1 but I'm not sure how different the PH2s are. On mine it was 3 screws underneath the wheel to remove the 2 panels around steering column and then 2 small screws on the stalk unit and it just slides out. You just have to turn the wheel 90' to get access to the small screws.
Well they just started working for me for about 5 seconds. I spent a while just trying them again and again and they only worked a couple of times (never the rear though). So I guess that means the stalk is defective. I think that's an easier change anyway so I'll have to look on ebay for one.
I did hear a slight fizz when I turned my ignition on a few weeks ago so it's possible that the stalk is messed up. But everything else works fine on it, just the front and rear washers that have failed.
My washer pump also wont activate on my mk2 ph1 1.4. There's no fuse in the interior fuse box but I've seen posts saying it may be a relay from either the engine bay or under the passenger side dash for some reason. So does anyone know which one I should be checking (And how).
Any help is...
True, it's not too far for me to travel, it's just farther than I would like :P. I'll keep you in mind but I'd still like to know if others know of any good garages in the area :)
Hi I have recently bought a 1.4 16v clio MK2 ph1 and I can't find any record of a cambelt change, that's not to say it hasn't been done and it's not due yet mileage wise, but it is way over it's 5 year limit so I'm going to get it changed.
Renault quoted £667 for cam belt and water pump and Hi...
