Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

Bloody bolt nipped up in the RivNut Rob. Then spun the insert as i tried to undo it. Grrrrrr. I'll live without it, as the other 6 million bolts should cope!

Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

All, Guessing this will mostly be the rally/race guys and chances are you wouldnt be able to tell anyway due to the nature of your vehicles use. But ive just fitted a PMS sumpguard to my road car, its not fauling the engine or transmission, yet ive a significant increase in cabin vibration...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Something I’ve been after for a while is a PMS sump guard. I’m always mindful that the car is pretty low and when pressing on in the back of my mind about catching the underside on something. Luckily one came up on eBay in good condition a few weeks back, so ordered new M8 RivNuts from Nick @...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Cheers guys. Offset on them is ET38. Rears have a 10mm axle spacer and the fronts have a 10mm slip on spacer. I may drop the front spacers to 5mm to see if it improves the steering again. If it’s negligible I’ll keep the 10mm. The front also has an additional 5mm due to the roll centre hubs.

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Hahah, some people would pay handsomely for "5 whole pages of dicking you know" :D Ive only driven it back from Ruislip and into work so im really only going on first impressions. There are some country lanes near me with some quite agressive undulations, if you drive them *cough* briskly, you...

I'll apologise unreservedly for the frankly obsurd amount of dicking about over wheels.

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

So the lunacy continues as i made the 3 hour round trip over to see Rich @ Ruislip Tyres today to get the EVOs fitted. Exceptional service as always from him taking the upmost care in everything he does. If you're over that way i can highly reccommend him, as a good tyre fitter is like golddust...

    Spacers 'guide'/info

Which is still too much if you want it to drive nicely IMO. But having done what youre wanting to do and formed an opinion and thrown said spacers away, all i can go on is my experience. Still opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one.

    Spacers 'guide'/info

They drive crap on anything more than 10mm. If you cant run 10s on the Turinis which you cant, just get 5s and be happy :)

    Spacers 'guide'/info

Personally id go longer, chnaces are they wont bottom out with an additional 2mm anyway.

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Wheels, dampers, remap and DCT trans only. I genuinely googled it because I wanted to know. I’m a car enthusiast and even I can barely tell the difference between them. Dull as dishwater. In fact I think you won this thread spotting it in the first place. 😂

    £10k RB 182 (Motorsport)

Thats the difference between a proper track car and the average joe who takes their road car on the occasional track day. I agree, my idea of a proper cage is fully stitched, gusseted and as close to the roof/pillar line as possible. Wouldnt stop me adding a rear clubsport cage to my road car...

    £10k RB 182 (Motorsport)

Wouldnt say its a show cage, if its a Fulcrum item it will be of a nice standard, its just a rear cage that would hold the roofline in the event of going over. But in reality, its far from a car specified for motorsport use as the advert states. No different to any other trackday clubsport...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Good call if youre having them refurbished anyway. Thats what id do. After the first place managed to scratch 3 of the R wheels i had all 4 refinished by Exel Wheels (who PCGB recommend) and 4 brand new Cup2s put back on. 4 attempts it took them to do the wheels and get them exactly right to...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Agree pad choice is a big factor. Just wish the Brembos were a cleaner looking caliper. Having said that, the stock setup with good cooling has never let me down unless it has crap pads. I have no issues with the Pagids fitted except theyre dusty lol.

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

I agree, the quality of job should be irrespective of the value of the wheel. I take care of my things no matter if ive paid £50 or £5k for it, and id treat other peoples things with the same care as my own. I just find a good tyre fitter is rare as hens teeth these days which is a shame as we...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Yeah i think you may even get away with a 5mm spacer for the Brembos. Brembos to me look like a rather bulky caliper so i think if i was going to go larger, id look at the offerings from AP, Wilwood maybe?

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

@gambit and anyone else looking to run these on a Brembo setup. 2118s ET43 with a 10mm Slip on PMS spacer gives 29mm clearance from a stock caliper. X3MA ET38 with no spacer gives 33mm clearance from a stock caliper. Looks like I’m deffo going to have to clean up my arches and make my...

    Rusty’s Titanium 182 take 2!

😂😂 I’ve got 10mm slip ons with the 2118s (ET43) as they have a tiny 2mm chamfer so still locate. My new wheels are ET38 and will probably run with a 5mm spacer. This is combined with the roll centre kit will bring the front out 10mm without messing up the scrub radius and will align with the...
