Superb response Dan, that's exactly the kind of feedback i was hoping to hear. Do you remember what brand you used?
I don't mind adding a little weight, but obviously not wanting to go mental. From what im reading, a 2 layer system of butyl with a secondary foam overlay seems to be the way to go.
Agreed it has some... but like all cheap hatchbacks like these, quality NVH costs money and manufacturers aren't too happy about spending it on cars this cheap. lol.
Im just wondering if any of the more modern butyl/foam suppressors that are now available might go some way to adding a little...
So I'm guessing there are still a good few of us who use their Clios on the road and even some like me that use it as a daily driver.
A couple of threads recently have gotten me thinking into adding some (reasonably) lightweight sound deadening to try and make the little Clio a bit more refined...
They're £210 on Car Audio Centre, I've just ordered them from Dynamic Sounds for £158 delivered.
Now to investigate sound deadening that doesn't weigh the same as the sun.
So if the crossovers were connected at the ISO lead, the OEM wiring to the doors would be used to power the mid drivers in the doors but then id run new cables from the crossovers just for the tweeters?
Had mine on a while now. Nick had it made with custom straight cut brushed tips. Sounds the best if any I’ve heard and fit/quality for the money is the best you’ll find.
I’ve got the cat derestriction kit for MOT time but runs a full decat the rest of the time.
The PhillipM/Grams mounts made a significant improvement in NVH and resonation coming through the flat boot floor.
Superb but of kit and a complete fit/forget item. 👌🏼
Not a tool as such, but im sure I’m not the only one who has struggled for a decent pliers rack that will cope with spring loaded pliers.
You usually can’t stand them up as they ping open and prevent the drawer from opening/closing properly.
All I can find are those metal “dishes” racks from the...
I do 250/300 miles a week just for work so the Clio gets hammered. Im just terrified of the salt eating it away.
Im waiting on @Yorkshire Pudding to give me the gold seal on his new undercrackers rinser so i can get one on the way :D
Post Cosworth days, I've always put an Alpine HU in all my cars, as i like the way they operate and always sound very good.
Like Rob above, my last dabble with more extensive car audio was a pair of Eclipse 12" subs and Eclipse AMPs in the back of an Escort GTI when i was 19.
I think the...
Only thing with doing these is dicking about running cables to the doors and crossovers. I can’t be arsed these days. Would probably also be worth adding some sound deadening while you’re there.
That would be grand. I had the snowfoam literally turning to snow on Friday. It solidified as it was running down the car. I ended up connecting the pressure washer to the hot tap in the end. 😅
I think considering the rest of tat out there £8k is bang on for the miles/condition. I certainly hope it achieves it too as i only helps to bolster the prices of decent 172/182s. Good ones are getting seriously thin on the ground.
