Great update Frayz.
Colour looks awesome in the sun
Be interested to know your thoughts on RSL29's once you've had a chance to bed them in. Ran them on a previous car (M135i) and they were awesome, so would be keen to know how they perform on the Clio.
Just came across this kit that Whiteline are doing for 172/182 - rear anti roll bar and set of lowering springs.
Pretty good at £219 inc VAT, but their current 15% discount code “Frenzy” works on this, bringing it to £187 inc VAT!
Seems a good deal to me...
Forgot to mention that I also upgraded the front speakers in the doors (mid woofers).
I know there won’t be a massive improvement without an amp or sound proofing the door, but I got them very cheap so thought I might as well. Bought a pair of adapters so I didn’t have to cut the OE plug on the...
Bit of an update on this.
First up, ordered a new pollen filter and got round to fitting that today. Old vs new picture below, never quite understand why they get fitted in such a way like the old one was. They are a bit of a fiddle to get in the gap, but a bit of patience and you can have them...
So, I think I have managed to answer my own question, by lots of reading of other (similar) posts, and some of my own cross referencing.
Am posting up my findings as it may come in useful for others as a reference.
The driveshaft in question is the right hand side/OS driveshaft I bought from...
So if they provide both ABS rings, that confirms you can remove one and press the other one on?
If that’s the case I might stick with this GKN one.
I dare say people have bought J&R and not had problems with them, but £50-60 just seems far too cheap to me.
I know this must get asked a lot (I've done a fair amount of research!), but just a query on driveshafts.
Am aware that there are several different driveshafts for Ph1 172, 172 Cup, 172/182 Non-Cup and then 182 Cup.
I am looking for a new right hand/drivers side/offside 182 "Cup" spec...
Great work on this, loving the progress.
Only need to take the upper dash off to fix broken slats in the centre vents. The slats actually pop out from the vents individually. And it’s not the slats that are broken, there is a bar that runs vertically and horizontally which clips in to each...
My rear brace finally arrived today...
This just completes the semi clubsport look I was going for. I was looking at rear braces anyway, and then saw this which I thought was a bit different and still subtle enough without going for a full rear cage. I know they don’t do anything, bought it...
Amazing work.
Love all the top quality parts, Millway stuff is p**n.
I had the same with a ZPO shifter in my Megane Trophy, went to do a 3 point turn in the middle of turn as couldn’t be asked waiting in a queue, swung it round and then wouldn’t go in reverse, so was just sat there middle of...
Swapped over the door handles today.
First of all, a picture of the old. It is very hard to tell the colour difference in the photos, but in real life, the handles are a definite discoloured/faded light pink!
New one up against the old one.
Then set about removing the door card to swap...
Thanks mate. Nope, left them OE/texturised. Looks best for me, not a fan of colour coding them personally unless the car is Black Gold.
I miss that car a lot. Very similar colour scheme on them, I agree.
Which captive nuts are you looking for mate?
I will PM you a bit later with the info...
Nice update Stef.
That will be my bad on the jack and axle stands 🤭 I didn’t know there was going to be an imminent lockdown when I asked to borrow them, honest! 😁
Got round to fitting the front bumper back onto the car today.
Built everything back up last weekend, and fixed the splitter during the week.
As with everything else, new stainless hardware throughout to compliment.
How it is looking...
The undertray got a good clean up before being...
Awesome Paul.
Great write up on the history. Didn't know it was the first registered Sunflower, cool statistic.
Been waiting for you to do this and put a project thread up; look forward to seeing progress and updates.
Given you are around the corner, give us a shout if you ever need a hand...
Genuinely nicer to use.
Couple it with some bronze bushes (https://cliosport.net/threads/172-182-bronze-gear-linkage-bushes.830867/#post-11884649) and/or Yanoo stiff shift kit and will be a massive improvement.
Still having issues with warning lights on the dash - ABS, Traction and Serv; the ABS one sometimes doesn't come up when I restart the car, but then does if I move.
Photos below show some of the codes I have been getting - mean anything to anybody?
Normally get a different code or two each...

Photos are terrible quality.
Particularly like the fact he mentions it could be made pristine for less than £500 :ROFLMAO: don’t know what planet he is on. Does he know it costs over £300 to replace that splitter, and the N/S rear panel needs paint!
Yep, I love fresh paint!
No idea on the price for K-Tec splitter mate, although I didn’t ask them, but I “think” I remember seeing them a few years ago for about £150ish so would assume they’ll be a similar price again.
Just a couple of small updates.
Replacement rear light securing screw arrived, so swapped that over.
New Osram LED interior bulbs arrived. The boot light was already fitted with one of these, so I bought 2 for the main light, and glove box light.
Before and after...
Then I had a go...
Extreme Finishing, Basingstoke.
Can’t recommend him enough. Not the cheapest, but I won’t go anywhere else for paint. Really nice chap and goes above and beyond.
It is this one mate -...
