Forgot to mention I finished off the engine bay tidying with a new genuine bonnet seal...
Also didn’t mention that the bonnet is not fully fitted yet, as I am just waiting on my new bonnet release to turn up! Hinges all bolted up, but it is just resting ajar as it stands.
And thought I...
Then remembered that I had bought new front bumper insert stickers to fit, knew there was something missing!
It was onto the bonnet next.
I asked for it to be painted on the inside as well as outside, as I’ve decided to run without the bonnet sound proofing (similar reasons for removing...
Then onto the front bumper.
Similar to the back, but I had a longer list of new parts I had bought to replace at the same time…
Brand new genuine fog lights
Brand new upper grille
Brand new front badge
¾ size front plate
Skoda Fabia splitter
Earlier in the week, I coated my new front grille...
Onto today, where I decided to start building up my freshly painted bumpers to fit them back onto the car.
Back bumper first.
I bought some new stainless starlock washers to secure the rear polystyrene crash blocks.
Also bought a pair of new rear exhaust trims from K-Tec, as wasn’t completely...
Rear arch liners were looking pretty filthy. Fronts were basically just as bad!
Again, no pictures during cleaning, but same as the fronts. AF Verso, followed by couple of coats of Chemical Guys Barebones.
Left the arch liners off the car until the rear bumper was to be fitted back on...
Please ignore that I didn’t clean up the dampers, got plans for these very soon so decided to leave them as they were!
Then I cleaned the arch liners up with some AF Verso. Once dried, I applied a couple of coats of Chemical Guys Barebones to give some protection.
No pictures of this process...
Last couple of weekends have been spent cleaning wherever and whatever I can.
I sent both bumpers and the bonnet off for paint a while back, so the car has been sat without these parts fitted for a number of weeks now. Also bought a spare set of door handles and boot lock surround to have...
I absolutely love it, but unfortunately have not driven it much; it is a second car, coupled with lockdown at the moment.
This is my 5th 172/182 believe it or not! Most of my previous ones have been documented on here extensively in the projects section. My first 182 I actually converted to...
Welcome along mate.
Fantastic purchase, looks a nice one, and low owners.
I bought a Trophy myself in January, love it! Mine is number 368, almost consecutive numbers!
Enjoy.
Lovely work mate 👌
Scuttle area is the next job to do on mine.
Made a start on my arch liners this weekend, but seemed a real struggle trying to remove the front ones (all clips are off) so I left it and will tackle again this weekend. Were yours hard to remove?
And what coating are you using?
Removed the rear bumper from my 182.
On the inside of the bumper, the polystyrene parts are held on with some small metal fasteners.
Mine turned to dust as soon as I touched them, so would like to replace.
Pic below - what are they called?
Thanks!
I actually really like the colour matched bullets. All I would say is that I think the raised 2.0 16v lettering would be better in anthracite to match the wheels, and breaks it up a little.
Thanks mate. New fuse box and cover made a huge difference, more than the photos suggest.
Here you go... https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/parts/engine-parts/renault-oil-filler-cap-8200062947/
And then today I finally got round to continuing with fitting all the engine components.
Eventually got the lower inlet off (very tight fit!) and swapped over for the new one straight away…
I then set about fitting all the rest of the parts (no in between pics) and this was the end result…...
The pics with the fuse box above shows the new battery terminal too. Couple of additional pictures…
Decided to then have a clean behind both headlights whilst they were out. No before pics, but these are after cleaning. Honestly is so much cleaner than it was!
It was then time to get...
So I have been tidying up the engine bay over the last two weekends.
Some pics of how it was looking before.
Silver inlets
Fatty (I think?) induction
Broken fuse box
Broken positive battery terminal
Small battery cover
Parts ready to be fitted…
Painted upper inlet (port matched etc)...
Appreciate the reply.
Typical you sold the last pair recently!
Not in any immediate rush for brackets so couple of weeks would be fine.
What was the material you previously made them from? Also steel?
Looking into possibility of running 197/200 Brembo's on the 182.
I would be using 280mm discs, and running 15" 2118's, so understand I need 5mm machining off mounting face. I will also be running some spacers.
Re pads, I assume just use 197/200 pads in brand/compound of choice.
As for brake...
Thanks for the reply.
Yep I’ve got all the bolts along the front into the head off; 4 of them? But it looks like there might be another a bit harder to get to, slightly offset (the other 4 are all in line with each other) which looks to hold the alternator bracket to the inlet/head?
Seen the...
So, today I made a start on the job of swapping over my inlets (have a painted set to go on).
Upper inlet easy to remove.
Started tackling the lower inlet. Got most of the bolts off now, but still can’t get the inlet off.
I also have a engine mount bracket which has been painted; wasn’t able...
Thanks mate :)
Appreciate the comments Tim :)
Got them from Autostyle. If you ring them and say you want mats for a Clio Trophy with the Trophy logo and number, they will know what you mean. You can customise them with any colour etc. Not sure if they will be open at the moment obviously...
Finally, to finish off the interior, binned the horrible mats that were in the car, and fitted my new custom ones!
Old…
And new…
And just some photos of how the interior is now looking after all the jobs from last couple of days (ignore the fact the upper dash is not fitted, waiting for...
Finally, the fruits of today’s labours.
Last weekend, I got round to fitting the lowered seat adapter onto the passenger side Recaro (details above).
So I set about doing the same to the driver side today.
I actually ended up taking both seats back out, because when I was doing the passenger...
Next up, headlights!
I recently bought a pair of brand new black insert Hella headlights (halogen not xenon) to replace the grey ones on the car. Mine are actually in great condition, just prefer the black ones.
I bought both headlights separately – after a bit of an eBay search, stumbled upon...
