Love it mate! Been waiting for the day you bought a Trophy.
Keep it standard, align the exhaust and then a freshen up of any small parts and job done!
Quite like the Lupo GTI next to it in the previous owners’ pic too.
Enjoy it bro.
@PhillipM do you happen to be the same bloke that used to make (or might still do!) the lower front strut braces for a 306 GTI? Going back quite a few years now but I had one on my Diablo Red GTI-6! Just intrigued if it is you.
Nothing much to update at the moment, and the weather has been pretty rubbish which is less than ideal when running Nankang NS2-R’s!
Have made my first parts purchase for the Megane though... a set of brake bells and rotors came up for sale for a good price, barely used and in great condition...
Saw you this morning coming out of Fareham, you were waiting to turn out of junction near Turnpike Tyres.
Didn't catch the reg, but car looked nice!
I was in the yellow Megane.
Being the person who bought this car off you, I can confirm this side is certainly the better to have taken a photo of 😅 (i.e. the side that didn't get paint).
Appreciate all the nice comments everybody!
I know you won't believe me, but this one is a keeper! 😅 I have been wanting one for a while but they don't often come up with a spec like this one.
Thanks mate. At first I thought the same about the side graphics, but they have actually really...
Hi guys,
I'm back again!
Picked up my new car today... kept it RenaultSport and went for a Megane 265 Trophy in Liquid Yellow! @SharkyUK this is what I was on my way to view when I went past you on the A34 on Monday!
It is a fairly big spec, some of you might even know or recognise the car...
Thanks Andy! I was en route to viewing and test driving my replacement for the Monaco! I've paid a deposit so details will be posted up on here once I collect it!
Went past you today @SharkyUK, I was the guy in the Monaco Blue Clio and put my thumb up when I came up alongside you. Think it was on the A34?
Car looked awesome, knew it was you straight away from a little distance as I saw the plate!
Nope don't think so. Wouldn't increase with engine speed? Either way, definitely not release bearing as I know how they sound and full clutch kit was done within last 5,000 miles!
I was thinking this. Have fitted an aftermarket stereo over weekend, and this noise has been there with both...
Hi guys,
Bought a Monaco 172 last week, and getting a noise which I can't quite identify.
It is a constant whirring/ticking kind of noise... difficult to describe.
Sounds like it is coming from more the passenger side.
It increases with engine speed, not road speed (i.e. if I travel at...
Very nice this mate, looks epic.
I work at a small Motorsport garage in the South, we're BMW specialists and get a lot of E9x M3's in. We've just taken delivery of a brand new V8 block from BMW to be fitted to a customer's E92 (supplied under warranty luckily for the customer; his engine shat...
So I had all the Cup suspension fitted about 4-5 weeks ago, along with a geometry alignment. Massive difference, it really handles very well now, as you would expect.
Also had the BTB ninja exhaust system fitted, along with the KTR sports cat. The nicest thing about this is it sounds literally...
It was the window regulator in the end mate. The plastic parts had become brittle and snapped.
I bought a new window regulator (about £77 from ECP at the moment with their discount code) but you could always get one second hand. Car is having some suspension fitted in the garage at the moment...
Thanks Dean!
I prefer the look of the standard retrimmed wheel too. However, I find it awful in terms of ergonomics for a "spirited" drive... the thumb grips are too low in the wheel and just do not feel right/natural, difficult to say what I mean. The later 172 and 182 wheel are much better...
So a slight change of direction with the car.
Was told by K-Tec today that it will be end of the week earliest before the Cooksport springs are here (ordered a few weeks ago!) which was just too long given the car has gone into the garage already.
Ended up deciding to go with the standard...
Yeah have a few plans for it, mainly just tail tidy and an exhaust, but there will be other small parts (mirrors, rear foot peg blanks, anodised parts etc).
Shouldn't have a problem finding a GSXR when you are ready. This was just too good a price to turn down and has a fair few extras fitted...
Managed to get hold of a Titanium cup spoiler in good condition from a 182.
Before....
And after.... much better!!
Also loaded up the back with all the parts that are to be fitted this week.
Front cup shocks (and new shock bolts/nuts)
Rear cup shocks
Cup wishbones (with new ball...
Yeah you probably have the more common "Stealth" system which I still don't think is mega loud anyway.
I am hoping to have a little more noise than standard (or a bit deeper) coupled with the sports cat. But relatively stock sounding is good for me as it is a daily.
We will definitely have to...
Guys,
Question re headlights on Ph1 172.
I bought a pair of brand new Hella units from Euro Car Parts last week, but returned them due to them being faulty. Basically, the whole internals of the headlights could be moved up and down, almost like on a pivot.
I have since purchased another...
So the exhaust arrived today.
Just about managed to squeeze it in the back of the car after the box arrived at work...
Yep.... a BTB system! Had one for my 182 and they are a very well made piece of kit.
I remember that BTB used to offer a "Stealth" system for the 172 years ago (like 5/6+...
Went to put the electric window up on the passenger side this morning, and when it got to the top, I heard a crack/snap, and then the sound of something dropping to the bottom of the door!
Pressed the switch to put it down again, and that was ok, but on the way back up, it was not going up...
