Very unfortunate and annoying that we've no idea what rate the H&Rs are (or any of the lowering springs to be honest). I've no doubt that the 7kg/mm combination could very well give the illusion of better turn in due to less roll but 7kg/mm is still quite stiff so it seems unlikely that this...
About a hundred things going on in this thread
I reckon the answer is staring us in the face. It's a sporty biased road car. Primary ride down a fast B road with corners whilst still having to adhere to the essentials (ground clearance for speed bumps, rear spring stiff enough to cope...
How did you arrive at that conclusion, out of interest? Do BC publish damping curves anywhere?
What do you plan on doing next? Still interested in spending money to get improvements, or content with what you have now?
Edit: nvm, you’ve answered that.
Putting a swivel on a swivel?! Why not do it up with an adjustable spanner too
In all seriousness, I can see a female swivel making life easier if your 15/20 year old union happens to be absolutely completely stuck and you’ve already done the calliper end up.
Some classic components there. I could only have dreamed of an 8800GTS back in 2007.
I’d love to chuck 4GB of RAM & an SSD (assuming you don’t have XP) in that sort of system for old time’s sake to see what it can do but you’d still be without driver support, hardware support (DirectX 11 let...
Fixed female M10x1, think it's at the bottom of the list. The male union on the hardline already rotates so no need for extra complexity.
Your judgement is as good as mine! Maybe 1500 & 600mm would fit like a glove nice & tight to the beam? But too short would be a disaster, 1550 & 650 would...
Turns out it's quite hard to find any graphics card reviews with benchmarks on strategy games. Guess it's a bit like looking for Nurburgring laptimes for a Chrysler PT Cruiser.
TBH I think you'd be happy with anything given your very modest requirements. AMD RX570 (£110 on cyberpower) is a nice...
Definitely 1660mm. Definitely would fit be a neater fit if it were shorter. Just cable tied roughly in place for now.
Very generous with clearance around the RR spring pan.
Let it sag down over the rear of the beam to use up some slack.
Let some of the slack push it a bit close to the...
There’s no overwhelming reason to choose AMD (“Radeon”) or nVidia in general. But at every price point there will be some nuances (performance, power consumption, driver reliability) as to why a particular offering from one or the other represents slightly better value.
I’m fairly up to date...
Conventional wisdom says no, as it’ll be several hundred quid more expensive in the first place than the same spec at a smaller boutique system builder.
Though if there’s a particular one you’ve been looking at, post it and I’m sure it can be proven/disproven/similar spec suggested for less.
Yep. Goes the “long” way round the standard spring location too. I think I read somewhere that HEL exclude the fitting from their lengths, but still that’s only 20mm each end.
Are you going to use a 1.6 engine & sequential box or are you sticking with a more cost-efficient powertrain?
A forced induction F4R for example would be an interesting way of achieving S1600 numbers, if not characteristics, without spending 60k.
MSI Afterburner reckons my 2600 idles at 39 and games at 63 on the standard Wraith cooler on a hot day. Not overclocked nor undervolted. All cores boost to 3.8GHz.
During much lighter gaming the temp plateaus at 41 and curiously all cores boost to 3.9GHz. So it seems that 63 degC under load is...
I also avoided Proline because of the poor feedback previously. Call me cynical but for all I know the company could've been "sold" to a family member and I wasn't going to waste time playing PI.
@DomP182 I used HEL as I needed a few bespoke items. The online configurator has absolutely loads...
Just to throw a third set of numbers into the mix I've got 1660 and 700mm on order haha.
I think we're all on the same page. Looks like @RustyMojo has just measured the hardline and hasn't accounted for the 200mm or so for the flexi between the beam and body perhaps?
I used a bit of string and...
Linear springs:
More preload: ride height increases, available rebound travel decreases, high speed compression damping decreases and/or rebound cavitation occurs earlier (i.e. occurs over less severe bumps and at less extreme temperatures).
Less preload: ride height decreases, available bump...
I see where you're going. Not much consolation but it might just be luck of the draw in terms of body, turret and sub frame tolerances. Does your car have the elongated cut outs on the turret for the topmount? This would increase castor.
Yes on castor.
My first thought as to why anti dive...
Unless I've misunderstood the timeline, you've measured castor whilst at an unknown ride height & rake, then changed the majority of the front end, then measured castor again at a different unknown ride height/rake?
On top of that as nothing is obviously bent, fitted incorrectly and there's no...
The tolerance from factory isn't 2.44 to 4.20, it's just +/-0.3 (+/-30' sorry)
The reason they give a range of castor values is so that the tech can take any customer car, with any amount of fuel in the tank or s**t in the boot and get a castor target for whatever that particular car's ride...
All sorts of anti-squeal greases/lubricants you can buy and apply to the pad’s backing plate. Wouldn’t recommend adhesive anti squeal foam pads however, as the adhesive can get hot and smokey as it melts during track use.
Some pads just get quieter after the first few miles.
But generally it’s...
Where does that e36 think it's going at 0:05 😂
Sounds good! Still got to be one of the coolest track cars on here. How much does a stripped 90s family saloon weigh?
Was looking for the box that my old graphics card came in today and it got me wondering why the f*** is retail packaging so "premium" for PC components. Such a waste. I've literally never ever bought a component from a shop so it's totally redundant.
I assume everyone buys everything from...
