Renault Sport in Wimbledon sell the ball joints as separate items, I believe they are around £60 and they are happy to post the parts out.
failing that, I renewed the near side hub assembly due to a worn lower ball joint aswell, only took a couple of hours to change over.
the hub itself cost £211.
as with most intelligent ECU's these days, after they have been reset, they can take a good few miles just to learn a few basics again.
id imagine it will be fine within a day or so, dependent on how many miles you cover.
if you are suitably competent, then you will be fine.
its far from a hard job, the only time consuming task could be the pins if they have decided to put up a fight from coming out, but they do give way eventually.
if they come out okay, give them a decent clean up, clean out the pin holes and...
id doubt it would ruin you atall, its got an LPG conversion fitted so you could utilize that for a majority of your road usage.
I run a 4.7 V8 Jeep as my daily, and yes its thirsty but its far from horrendous atall, its actually surprisingly good once on the motorway and you are plodding along...
I wouldn't say ive noticed the flat spot as they are often described, but then the car has hardly been used anyhow.
what I hate about it, is that when its cold started, its like a bloody kangaroo up the road, its sooo shockingly bad.
in the daily 4x4, the items in the boot are two dog leads, a couple of ball throwers and a handful of tennis balls and a water bowl.
that's pretty much it :)
the R27 has an umbrella at most.
the Trophy is a stripped out toy, so completely empty.
Dave, we bought it, Kim used it for days before I gave it a quick bit I ring prep.
took it to the ring on the trailer and just had no love for it in the slightest.
weve been back 5 weeks now and the car is still strapped down on the trailer... It says a lot for the car!!
admittedly there have...
I've had all sorts over the past few years chi, steroid based injections into the discs, epidurals etc, of which left me with a mild spinal leak aswell, almost on going physio for the past few years aswell.
shame you cant do this as a file that can be uploaded to the car myself, as you are far from on my door step.
ive just given the 197 to the misses, and it would be nice to have this little flat spot ironed out so she hasn't got to worry about it.
oh don't, I had another consultation at the back specialist yesterday afternoon/evening.
they now seem to think that im missing two small bones in the lower part of my back, which probably wasn't there when I was born, but until the past few years with the discs damage hasn't caused much of a...
still all yours Jamie.
just because I intend on bringing it back to life, doesn't mean ill be needing to keep the engine and bits you are having.
sourcing a spare engine and a few bits isn't really end of the world for me mate.
as planned, let me know when you are working in Kingston and...
for spirited fast road use, you certainly wont need to start looking at alternative calipers, as long as the current calipers are in a good and healthy state then they will be fine.
start with a braided line kit, along with some decent fluid.
then for me, standard discs are perfect, you can...
its only because I know they worked perfectly and had no issues atall, that I would want them back. (even tho the springs looked a little shabby)
they are an awesome bit of kit, and probably the one item I would snap up as a priority if I could have them back again.
far from selfish tho Chip, I...
Martin, the pics as per text convo.
this was my second MK1 FRS, it went from this...
then I sold it to a good mate, and within weeks it was like this...
Nooo, ive had 2x MK1 FRS's aswell, you are thinking of my MK2 FRS. the guy I sold my second one to instantly ripped it apart and had it painted a Matte Porsche grey, it looked gorgeous.
then Ash (Vtec Yo) had his MK1 wrapped in a slightly darker grey aswell.
ill dig up some pics and ping them...
that's looks fairly close to Estoril blue, within reason.
if you like the satin grey's, did you ever see the pictures of mine, and ash's old MK1 FRS's?
im half tempted to resurrect the Trophy, I cant gel with the 197.
and tbh, with a few current health drama's, im thinking its better the devil you know.
your not far off wrong there Chip.
I think when we added it all up we were knocking on the door of 55k invested.
pulling it apart, we recouped 38k, the majority of that was from Sailor Boy Richie.
