I usually only ever lurk in General Chat so this is the 1st time I've seen this thread 😬
Red one was mine at the time this pic was taken and now the Tungsten Grey is mine
Also got a Williams that I'm a million years into it's restoration
Ignore the white shed, it was a donor car for my...
I need some help sourcing 1 for my 172 Cup.
I've found 11 different part numbers that say they're for the Cup and I know it's not supplied by Renault anymore so need some help pointing me in the right direction
Just renewed my advert now that it has a fresh MOT, a better exhaust system and a reduction in price
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11998927
Quite the bargain compared to the £15k one that's been listed 🤑
If there was any mention of a renovation job (I'm actually house hunting atm and renovation/refurbishment is prominently mentioned on a lot of the adverts I'm looking at) I'd want to see evidence of it and if it was done properly before deciding if I want to proceed with buying it or walking away
I have to disagree somewhat, the list of parts being put on the advert pretty much makes it a project thread as well as an advert, otherwise my ad would simply say "172 Cup, MOT November 2022, 150,000 miles, cambelt & dephaser done at 137,000, £5,200 ono" which is a pretty crap advert & you'd be...
I do get where you're coming from but for me, when we're talking about a car of this age -especially a Clio - I'd rather it have had an actual life rather than it have been an unused example as from my experience, the worst possible thing to happen to a Mk1 or Mk2 Clio is for it to be sat unused...
It's an indication of how much of a steaming pile of s**t it was when I got it and how much effort was involved to get it into it's current state, without those pics it's simply a bog standard 172 Cup, nothing really significant & can't convey the time, money & effort that's gone into it.
People...
Unashamed hijack but here's my "bargain" 172 Cup that's for sale, will have 13 months MOT on it from Monday as well https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11998927 😜
There's nowhere in particular they're for sale, just the usual places like ebay, facebook marketplace, PH classifieds etc. The facebook groups are full of sad people (like me) that are constantly on the lookout for them popping up for sale & go nuts whenever they find one
It's been a bit of an odd trend with them, the values of shitters in need of a lot of work have been climbing to around the £2k mark & the good/exceptional ones have been consistently hovering around the £4 - 5k mark so it's quite a big jump to 8.
If it sells for that much though it will set a...
Has anyone experienced repeated failures of new Cup rear shocks at all?
I fitted brand new genuine rears to my 172 Cup last year, covered about 3,000 miles with a ring trip & 1 trackday and no issues with them.
Whilst parked up back in March, walked past the car to see a puddle of oil at the...
Possibly or perhaps maybe not, just puts it into perspective from a manufacturing point of view what it takes & costs to produce a version of car that's significantly lighter.
A brilliant example of this is to look at the lengths Renault went to so they could keep the weight down on the new...
Because 80kg less weight is a f**king huge amount to begin with & there's got to be some serious thought & engineering gone into it under the surface to get to that point, Lamborghini used to do a Gallardo that weighed 100kg less & they charged an extra £30k for that because of the effort...
