£150-200 should get you something decent that will do most home tasks. Go for any of the big brands with interchangeable batteries though so you can expand in the future if you want to.
Not a power tool, but will get any tool pervert a bit moist.
Just bought these, been toying with Hilti for a while so when I saw they did a set I couldn't resist.
Currently have zero holes to drill, but when I do! Oooft, I can't wait.
Thanks all for the suggestions, so I've been mulling it over more and been to Halfords and Machine Mart today.
Halfords don't really have anything and the Clarke stuff in machine mart just doesn't seem much for the money so discounted both.
Spoke to someone at SGS yesterday who insisted...
Thanks all.
Good shout, just had a look at the sealey stuff but they don't seem to have anything around that size and budget. Typically either cheap stuff or a bit too rich / small.
I don't mind spending a bit, but there's always someone who comes along suggesting financing a £5k snap-on box...
I'm after some half decent garage drawers to keep bits and pieces in. Does anyone have any they recommend?
As it stands it's a toss up between these;
SGS
US Pro
No strap on please, I'm not made of money.
Cheers
It will be because of the pressure exerted on itself. To expand inwards requires it to press against itself, whilst to expand outwards will allow it to move into free space.
Bought these crimpers off ebay. Definitely the best on the site. Not bad for 60 quid 🤣.
First things first put a bit of tube in and pressed a hex onto it. They might actually have some use knowing they can do this.
Dormer.
Edit, don't ask me why, but my mate bought me this set a few years ago for helping him with something. No idea why he went so overkill but it's seen me very well for a few years now.
Most expensive drill bit set known to man
Plasma cutter 🤣
Joking aside, air gun, spray gun, tyre inflator are all good shouts.
I have a few Clarke bits from machine mart and TBF they work just fine. Air ratchet is a good shout though if you don't have one.
Agreed. I think Makita have a better all round range with their garden stuff and mix of DIY and Mechanics tools but the feel of other tools seems better.
I prefer Dewalts general build quality and some of the Milwaukee mechanics stuff is miles ahead of where Makita are.
Sadly not, but the guy is very well off and appears to just do some building to keep boredom at bay.
Sent his wife to pick some steel up in a Porsche Cayenne 😂
One of the builders I deal with has a place in the states so gets loads of Milwaukee stuff. Showed me inside his van the other day and it'd have some of you chap's f**king creaming.
All Milwaukee tools, all less than 2 years old and all in the pack out cases. Looked impressive.
Compressors will have a Free Air Displacement (FAD) rating in cubic feet per minute (CFM). All proper ones will kick out 10 bar and be suitable for most air tools.
Depending on the tools you'll want one that can cope, the tank size means you get more leeway with the FAD until it kicks in, but...
My mate does this, think he's got some form of something. But he can't see a new tool without picking it up and then playing with any moving parts or settings.
Drives me f**king insane as it's like watching a child making sure he doesn't break anything.
Acquired these old cast iron slip rolls today, they weigh about at much as the sun.
Made in Birmingham by G Kendrick. Other than that I've not got a clue about then. They need a good tidy up but other than that they're really nice.
It was about that price yeah, might have been a bit cheaper as I shopped around a bit.
I know it's expensive but the way I see it is its a lifetime warranty and I bought it in my late 20's. I'm over the pain of buying it now, but that box will see me for the rest of my life. I've never...
Not got a clue yet haha. Just always fancied one and thought why not.
Got it running fully on single phase now including the coolant pump and emergency stops etc so can start thinking of things to make round.
