I'd be interested in your views on the 182 against the Type R.
They are often mentioned in the same breath when referring to great FWD cars. I found there was quite a difference.

Get some lighter wheels on there. Probably the single most effective thing you can do for the car.
Something like OZ Superleggeras or someone recenty posted a thread about ATS wheels.
Standard 182 wheels are very heavy and even the Turinis are around 9kg each.
They'll peel off all protective "stickies", wash it with a brillo pad and put drill holes through the hatch (if that where the number plate goes on these).
Just never got the GT-R.
From the earliest rumours/spy shots to seeing (probably) the first one in the UK in a tent at Goodwood FoS, I pretty much walked passed it.
Nothing to do with the badge and all that, I loved the Sunny GTI-R, Primeras, even the Micras!
I probably would enjoy driving one...
Oh, and as for the Recaros, it is VERY difficult to prevent wear to the right side driver's bolsters as they are huge.
They get scuffed getting in and out however hard you try to avoid it.
I actually hold the roof and then lift myself over the bolsters!
I dread to think what he paid for that! They go on forever if you look after them.
I've recently bought one much like this, albeit an X-plate with a higher mileage. Completely original, well undersealed so not much in the way of rust (yet).
I prefer them in black.

I feel this thread is in danger of misrepresenting the reality.
For road use on a Clio, which is all I can comment on (Clio Trophy in my case), it is a very good balanced tyre. Although a rain tyre, it is a "summer tyre" so saying it is brilliant in the wet, crap in the dry is to damn it with...
For road use, they were superb on the Trophy and on my Yaris T-Sport. The Trophy previously had Michelin PE2s and although the sidewalls are softer on the Uniroyals, there wasn't that much in it given they were half the price.
Give them a few hundred miles and dare I say it, an alignment...
Assuming your current wheels are also 7" wide, the extra poke outwards will be the difference between your current offset (if higher number than 20mm) and 20mm. For instance, 7" wide and 45mm offset on your current wheels, will result in each of your new wheels having 25mm "poke".
An extra inch...
Just a thought, but you may put him out of his misery by making him an offer to walk away (i.e. he pays you £X and you deal with it after that).
At the moment, he may just be thinking "how the hell am I going to deal with this" and "I've really got other work to be doing than this headache" etc...
Do your current tyres need changing and what are they?
As a buyer of a specialist car, I would rather receive a £150/200 discount on the car to fit the tyres I want (at say, £300, i.e. share the pain with the seller) than pay top whack for the car, then having to junk a new set of budget tyres...
