Well I'd put it off for too long but the rear beam needed rebushing and with the front being poweflexed I decided to do like wise with the rear.
Rear beam dropped,
Decided to drop drop the full assembly down and dismantle it on the floor and what a job, never come across so many seized...
Lol. NorthWest section is so quiet now, complete opposite a few years ago when you'd get 30+ names down for a meet and the meets were happening on a weekly basis.
Had it's MOT last week, it passed but had an advisory with low rear braking effort, so I thought I'd best investigate it.
Forgot to take any pictures but after taking the rear calipers apart I found all 4 calipers sliders seized, caliper pistons seized and brake pads very worn and unevenly...
Next job, gearbox oil and auxbelt.
Nothing in the history of the gearbox oil being changed so I thought it was best to get it changed
And looking at the colour of this it was a good job I did lol
Next up the auxbelt and tensioner, recently been getting a horrible squeak on initial start...
Decided to give the paintwork some much needed attention as the dreaded swirl marks have started appearing on some of the panels. Really don't like detailing but I like a clean car so what needs must. lol
Washed the car and masked up areas ready to use the DA.
Concentrated on the swirled...
You were correct about lighter wheels feeling better to drive on, 1st Id heard of it but apparently it's true. Tbh there's isn't much weight difference between the standard FRS wheels and TD 1.2s, with the NS2Rs on the TD 1.2s they're actually heavier lol.
Yeahhhh DS2500s were fantastic in my Cup and Ph-1 172 but never brilliant in the Focus IMO either, ok for the road but fell short on track and then ultimately ruined my discs still got a good 4/5mm left on them as well. I've jumped up to Pagid RS14s now, much better but my god they're noisy lol...
I was the same, black wheels make the car look aggressive and I do still really like them but the silver makes it look cleaner/fresher IMO. I just took a punt as the powdercoaters only charged me £160 to do them so if I didn't like them it's not too expensive to swap back to black.
The discs...
Decided on NS2Rs 120 compound for my track tyres and had them put on the Pro Race 1.2s.
Glad I decided to use these as my track wheels as it makes the car look a bit st170 IMO.
I've also raised the car up 5mm all round as I was getting a fair bit of arch liner rub, if I leave it the arch...
Can't say I've heard that one before? Although the standard wheels are very light anyway. Changing size of the wheel makes a significant difference to feel whether is be positive or negative depends on the size difference and car though. I'm still undecided on what I'm going to do yet tbh.
Me and Rigby are looking at doing Anglesey on the 18th April with Javelin, Jord and Mark (Red Mx-5) are doing Cadwell on the 9th March, I was going to do Cadwell but I wouldn't have enough time to get the car ready for it.
Yeah mine and Matt's are pretty much identical in a straight line, mine had a bit more grip in the corners due to having slightly better tyres.
Got the track bug yet? lol
Haha getting hunted down by Jord.
I did notice you were getting quicker through out the day, last time I saw you I think you pretty much matched my speed through Cascades?
Uploading any videos of me going by? Still no idea what mine sounds like on drive bys lol.
Jord's e36 was impressive, as quick as mine on the straights and I couldn't get near him in the corners
Ayeee, who ever took them was concentrating on the R8 and R35, surprised he managed to catch any of that R8 it was shifting that quick. Came past me as if I was going backwards.
Yeahhh I get a lot of torque even now with 3mins of toe in, that was on track too lol. With toe out it would rip you out of a motorway lane even in 5th gear if you nailed it on peak boost lol
