The PMS shifter 'rattle' doesn't really bother me TBH.

I don't think you would get anywhere near 10k out of the fronts. I tend to run R888 all the time once the weather warms up (on my track car/ toy)

BTB stealth would be your best option then.

I jumped out of my skin the second time I fired her up!

Mine did this a few years back, I managed to limp home ( about 2 miles) I then had it towed to Rentech. I wouldn't drive it for 2hrs, as it could snap at anytime and then take out cambelt etc.

Not our greatest hour was it mate ;)

I have a Varley 25 in my 172.

I really like that!

I run my 172 on Fuchs Titan race pro S oil, but the standard Renault stuff is fine. Brakes will be fine mate, ATM I am running Brembo HC discs/ RC6 pads with ATE superblue, good set up IMO. As Dave says though you cannot buy ate superblue anymore, it only comes in gold now (same stuff though)

Just looking at going back to 4 pots on my 172, and have a couple of questions. Has anyone fitted 2118 wheels over Brembo 4 pots? and if so how much did you have to machine off the calipers, and secondly do you need to run spacers to get the required space between wheel and caliper. Thanks Fletch.

Yes mate that does make sense. I currently have a k-tec stealth system (with centre silencer) and that is quite loud, and very dronny.

Good stuff, my main concern was how loud it is when sat on the motorway crusing, as I still drive it to the 'ring /track days

Was the PMS system unsilenced mate, If so how loud was it? Just trying to decide arm whether or not to get a silenced or unsilenced PMS system
