Lancia have announced that they will be returning to rallying, with a Rally4 version of the Ypsilon. Basically, it's a 208/Corsa Rally4 in a Lancia frock, so a 210bhp 1.2 turbo engine, sequential gearbox etc etc. There is talk of them doing a Rally2 version in the future to replace the Citroen...
Was a great episode that. Love Jonny Smith's stuff.
I seem to remember that the Tipo 16v reviewed really well when it was new. Funny how it's been almost completely forgotten now.
It is, but they have grown on me recently. There's something about the Lego-brick looks. My mate rallied one in the early '90s and it looked decent on a set of Compomotive wheels (which he had custom drilled to suit its weird stud pattern  )
I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Renault 19 and Citroen ZX. Can't be many left now!
How about the MG Maestro EFI and Turbo? Obviously they rusted for fun, but the tubby was a rocketship for the time, and even the regular MG was supposed to drive quite well:
That definitely plays a role, but I think there is more to it. The sheer number of older cars is nuts. I saw more MK1 Puntos in 6 days in Portugal than I've seen in the UK in probably 15 years. That can't just be because of climate. I think we have a slightly different attitude to parts of...
Was at Rally Portugal for work last week and spotted so much random old chod. Every time I go to Europe, it blows my mind how many old cars you see compared to the UK. It's sad really, as it makes us look pretty wasteful.
I reckon Chapman would have been all over this. He was willing enough to do shady deals with DeLorean, so I can't imagine he would have been too shy about selling a fat SUV if it brought in some cash :ROFLMAO:
Netflix
Amazon Prime (though never use the streaming, just have it for deliveries)
Xbox Game Pass
Adobe Creative Cloud (work)
Canva (work)
More than I realised!
Really sad for them. Been following them for a couple of years now, and they've grown so much. We're just putting the finishing touches to the Gallardo and now it's a pile of ash. Genuinely gutted for them, seem like really good guys.
Sadly, it's something a lot of cars go through. They get cheap, so a lot get scrapped. Then prices start to go up, along with prices of parts, so the rough ones that are left start to get broken, which pushes prices up even more and, before you know it, people are complaining that they're now...
Don't get me wrong, if you're really into sim racing, I can see why it might appeal, but I just want something plug-and-play.
I would kind of expect the companies making and selling the stuff would do the setup work for me, rather than me having to figure it out myself. They're the computer...
Yeah it's just superficial really as, in reality, they handle and stop perfectly well. It's just the "cool" factor of having bits that make the car feel a bit more bespoke.
It's stupid in a way, but I think bits like the Brembos make the car way more desirable. It makes it look and feel more special. If these had come with more bits like that from the factory, they would have had more appeal IMO.
That said, as they get older, I do like them more.
Funny, I've also had a couple of 2.0 Zetec swapped Escorts in my day  Had loads of Escorts, lots of good memories.
Yeah it has the slide-throttle Mountune engine. Needs a rebuild, but is complete. Even got the original Pectel ECU, but will probably swap that out for something more modern...
That one was just a home-brew clubman car. Had a standard engine, slightly pikey wide-track suspension and a close-ratio gearbox. I did one (disastrous) event in it, then sold it. It's now been converted into a road rally car:
I do own a proper F2 car, but it's missing a lot of bits...
And a picture of the wiper motor plug, just to help illustrate how fucked it is :ROFLMAO:
Black is earth (obviously), the small green wire appears to be a permanent live, while the orange and brown wires are both dead. f**k knows what's happened to it. If they both go to the fusebox, I might...
I'm having some issues with the wipers in my 197. Basically, they don't work properly, and someone has fitted a little rocker switch to bypass the existing wiring. I've removed the motor/mechanism and cleaned it up and, with the Heath Robinson switch, they work, but they don't work on the stalk...
They seem to have gone up a bit, just like everything else I suppose. I remember seeing base models for around 1600 a couple of years ago, but they are all north of 2k now. I still quite fancy building a rally car out of one using the panels from the R4 car that someone built. Like this, but...
