Next job was to properly sort the paint. It was a relatively cheap repaint and up close it’s obvious - to me anyway…
First time I’ve wet sanded and reasonably satisfied. Bonnet and driver’s side done and it’s about as good as I can make it.
Gyeon Tyre or Tuf Shine. The latter cleans old dressings off like nothing I’ve ever tried. Particularly good with silicone based dressing which can be a pig to shift.
Garage Therapy wheel shampoo pretty good too - doesn’t strip like those above but if you’re using their Tyre Serum it should t...
Whoops. 4 months since the last update and the car’s only been driven once until today. Started to think about moving it on but gave my head a wobble and she stays for now.
Paid my no longer local garage a visit today to sort the exhaust. It’s never sat right, with the rear silencer dropping...
I might have missed something so apologies in advance but was the vehicle advertised with/sold with or on the basis that it had been serviced and hasn’t?
If yes then you may have grounds for breach of contract on the basis that the car was mis-sold. Had a few clients caught out with this and...
50th birthday present from the family. SPTA 75mm DA. Couldn’t justify a Rupes as they’re more than 3x the price. Added some decent pads from Lake Country.
Exfoli-Block is a new one on me. Will be using it when the daily gets its full exterior detail.
True. I only bother now and again as it’s not a daily. Once it’s been sorted everything will be coated in as much anti rust treatment as possible.
Years ago I cleaned my Dad’s Meriva before he traded it in. Hadn’t been touched under the arches in 3 years. I literally pressure washed without any...
Once a year I back mine onto ramps and foam underneath. Ditto whipping the wheels off to clean out the arches.
It rarely gets used when there’s salt on the roads and a chassis refresh is the next big project.
Few new bits. I’ve become a big fan of GT products - yet to find a bad one. Stocking up on polishes too as I plan to start work on making the daily look half decent.
Storage is in the cupboards that came with the house. Longer term plan is to replace with a single cabinet.
Garage Therapy glass cleaner - best I’ve ever used.
2 short pile or waffle towels. Spritz cleaner onto glass and buff lightly with first towel. Use second in the opposite direction to the first to clean any residue up.
Less is always more with glass cleaner. I generally use 2-3 squirts per...
I got some numbers for a new hybrid VRS and it was almost twice the monthly on my last one. Plus a 10-12 month wait. Decent looking car and a step up inside.
Started on getting it up to my standard. Paintwork needs correcting and coating so waiting on a space in a mate’s workshop.
For now, wheels and calipers coated with Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels and rusty hubs painted silver. I managed to ding the NSF last week on the school run - first...
My bus. Third Octavia 3 I’ve had because they just work. Enough space for everything I need it to do. First petrol and first DSG. Still under Skoda warranty and I’ll extend next summer without doubt.
Thanks chaps.
I”d made the decision to swap after looking at a Megane 300 Trophy when we changed my wife’s car a couple of weeks back (new Captur - she’s happy…) so yep the new one’s no doubt done up too but getting a bit more on the trade-in made my man maths work and get something a bit more...
Picked this up on Wednesday. Petrol DSG.
Third mark 3 I’ve had and first petrol. I traded the last one as values are daft and it was valued for trade-in at almost £3k more than I paid for it 2 years ago. Bonkers.
Initial impressions are very good. There’s a lot which is identical to the last...
Been ages. Haven’t done much to the motor, got Covid, didn’t die, oh and bought a new gaff - kind of taking up most of my time.
Did make a half decent mancave. Happy.
He looked a bit happier when I grabbed him for a cheeky selfie 😂👍
Highlight of the day was 3 laps in the 911 with a driver who knew what he was doing. Chasing down a certain Mr Bruce in his Pagani and the son of the F1’s owner whilst both giving it some beans was pretty special.
The GT3RS is a...
If Carlsberg did track days…
I’ve spent over 25 years in the classic car game and nothing has come close to today.
3 laps in an ex works XK140 with a C Type Engine and gearbox and then 3 in anger in a new GT3RS. What a weapon.
My guvnor got a ride with some racing driver too…
Yep, 2 of them and both genuine. I missed the money shot when they showed them nose to nose on the main stage. £120,000,000 plus right there 😳
GT2 made my willy fizz. What a machine. The Porsche that is. Not my willy.
