Personally, i think any protection is helpful, and went for a base plate welded in, 4 point half cage
Full cages are a real PITA if used on the road
A lot wont agree, but IMO thats better than nothing
And, i have standard seatbelts, AND full harnsess belts installed as well. No issue at MOT.
Fair enough. But I loved it. Lots like minded french car enthusiasts (We do have Peugeot/ Citroen and Renault cars in the family)
Won a few trophys with other clubs too- always had fun whether at Silverstone/ Castle Combe or Donnington
Each to their own
My hatred is TRAX- Just a bloody big car...
Got to underline that replacing the ICV worked a treat too... and gasket
New gasket for the throttle body too
And when he replaces the butterfly and pivot spindle they have to be a bigger size, as he rebores the throttle body out a couple MM too
That would smooth out imperfections and make a...
Ive got a copy of the ebay ad for the " Clio 172 phase 1 enlarged throttle body 64mm" advert
the seller was " sneakapeak99 " located in Langport, Somerset
But that was Janury 2017
Edit: Found it: Just realised it is same link as post above. Thats the guy that did mine, much improved...
When i first purchased my 172 Phase 1 in 2016, I had all the problems you are talking about. First i replaced the throttle body as the butterfly seemed really loose (I tried to repair the butterfly several times) then the ICV was cleaned, then replaced. Including gasket, and checked for air...
First time Ive had adjustable camber bolts. will get them set up exactly just before next track day- and its Lydden Hill with more turns than straights- kills front tyres in an hour/
I quite like the skittish grip at front altho pulling the way from the lights sharply can be kinda "youthful" as...
Have just fitted Camber bolts on front to add 1.75 neg camber, and whilst Ive only done 100 or so kmies, feels a lot better front end cornering and throwing it about, and even a bit skittish cos of slightly less grip straight on. Loving them so far, but only time will tell on tyre wear, and how...
Due the the current Coronavirus situation, and my new Car Tax (VED) year starting 1st May, Ive decided to SORN the Clio for several months until I can head out to Brands Hatch again - Ooooo I hope that can be soon. Will be using my daily driver from now on. I will leave my insurance running as...
Wipers work fine on both main speeds- just when you switch them off, they dont park at base of windscreen. They just stop on the screen whenever the switch is to off position.
Intermittent wipe only works occasionally
Rest of car electrics seem fine. MOT failure by the looks.
so is there no relay for front wipers? all integrated into UCH as 2 nd post says?
Will have to look at the switch, or faulty motor? Thought a relay would control direction of motor for wipers etc etc
otherwise, change UCH wherever that is, and understand that's a coding pain etc etc
Right- just to help anyone with the front wiper issue on a phase 1
There are 6 relays under the glovebox. Everyone is out at the moment- a central relay is grey colour- all others brown
None of them affect the working of my front wipers (Or headlights, or engine start) although passenger elec...
^ ^ ^ Its front wipers I need, and that diagram shows DRL's which a phase 1 doesn't have
Will get to bottom of it, by removing the relays 1 by 1 until the wipers dont work at all
Thanks- as another thread ive commented on, the relays are accessible under the dashboard passenger side, I understand
Although wipers may well be controlled from within the UCH
Lets hope a bit of prodding and poking sorts my issue (Wipers dont return to park up) or the MOT could get pricey
Handy thread- hopefully this could p0int me in the direction of resolving a windscreen wiper problem (Doesn't return to park at base of screen)
Looks like the relays can be got at and swapped?
Any advice on the front wiper relay location on Phase 1 please?
Havent looked yet, as rain never stops- but would start near the fuse boxes?- that right?
I was looking for the oval 2.0 16v phase 1 badge, but didnt find one in months of looking (Argument with a supermarket pillar- Pillar won but drove off without seeing the badge had gone)
Ended up getting a replacement 16v oval badge for £6 off ebay. If anyone has a cheapish 2.0 16v badge...…..
Would suggest that if it your first track day, possibly upgrade the front pads (I use Mintex 1144's and theyre really good imo) and that's it
Maybe get a turkey baster and remove some power steering fluid and put in a empty plastic water bottle, and take some fresh to put back in after...
I took my phase 1 key to Timpsons (was located in a Tesco Supermarket Car park!) as I'd been having loadsa trouble- on a track day too- with the key not being accepted by the immobilser. Key press button was knackered, and had tried changing the battery, and an ebay refurb kit, and neither them...
Just to close this thread up and for reference, I went for the SKF 732mm long driveshaft offside for my Clio 172 Phase 1, and its great.
This was after the Tech guy fitted a Shaftec one, which he was assured would fit my Phase 1, but didnt, and he had to replace it
The info I was given was as...
