I bought a set of the sticky dots mentioned in this thread and they seem to have done the trick;
https://www.cliosport.net/threads/trophy-185s-story.634695/page-8
The squealing/screeching could be the crankshaft dampener pulley starting to separate. It’s definitely worth a check, as I thought my pas pump was on the way out, but it was actually the crankshaft pulley that was knackered and making the horrid squealing/screechy noise.
@Pricey98 have checked my emails again and I was talking b******s earlier, I bought my OMP wheel from rival, I bought my momo boss from venom motorsport so might be worth checking if they have any in stock.
@Pricey98 if it’s any help, I ordered a Momo 7218R boss back in January from Rival motorsport and it does have the tabs on the back for 172/182s with steering angle sensors.
Currently trying to fit my Corbeau club sport buckets and have run into an issue whereby despite using the correct resistors across the correct wires, the airbag light stays on unless the seat position sensor is connected up. Even if i bridge across the 2 wires (grey/brown and pink and brown)...
My momo boss came with 2 wiring adaptors that clipped onto the existing wiring plug and then connected to the spade connectors on the back of the horn button.
If your boss doesn’t come with these adaptors then you could always make a set of them up using small spade connectors one end (car...
After reading a few threads on hear, I chopped the bit arrows in the photo below off when I installed my OMP wheel and then connected the the 2 spade tabs up to car wiring using the adaptors that came with my Momo boss and have had a working horn with no issues for over 4 months.
As I...
Sounds very similar to what I experienced recently when I fitted powerflex outer arb bushes; https://www.cliosport.net/threads/creaking-knocking-after-outer-arb-bush-change.820503/
Glad you got to the bottom of it in the end.
Good rattle with a hammer and a wire brush did get rid of a lot of stuff first time round but I did end up taking a small chisel to some of the tougher lumpy stuff on the end of the bar second time round. I was lucky with the bracket, those just needed a bit of a good tap with the end on the...
Just to finish this one off, took the black bushes off and found that the passenger side bush was stuck on the bar, despite putting plenty of grease on them when fitting and it only being on the bar for about 50 miles; the bush itself was absolutely fine when I got it off, but there was still a...
Mines failed it’s MOT under the pre-May 20th regs for the headlight washers being inoperable. I’m under the same impression as you @Davyy that new regs meant headlight washers were now only a test requirement after 2009, but I could well be misunderstanding the new rules (that said, I don’t know...
I like them, but definitely with the centre caps ??. Although, I am slightly biased as Vega’s were the wheels my mk1 came with, which then ended up on my ph1.
Good to know I’m not the only one having issues with black series bushes Phil.
I’ve just picked up a full set of purple powerflex arb bushes for a good price in the for sale section earlier, so i’m going to change them over when they arrive and see what happens.
Powder coating on the end of the ARB was still solid when I gave the bar a good wire brushing, had a few flaky bits where the old bushes stopped, so removed all that as best I could but the solid stuff stayed in place.
Gave the clamps a good scrub as well, they had a couple of little bumps on...
As above, i’m loathed to start another “knocking noise” thread, but i’m at a bit of a loss with this one so here goes:
I changed the worn out outer ARB bushes on my 172 over the weekend to Powerflex black bushes and since then I have being getting a groaning/creaking/knocking noise when...
Sounds like the fan isn’t kicking in for long enough to bring the temp back down to the normal running temp on the gauge, however, that doesn’t mean it’s not normal nor does it mean it’s not working right as it still seems to be keeping the engine from over heating and I can’t remember if mines...
My old phase 1 1.2 8v use to do exactly the same as yours appears to be doing, absolutely fine when driving, then when in traffic or idling for a while gauge would creep up and the fan would kick in probably just above the level show in your photo and temp would go back to normal level. Never...
I believe It can be done without redoing the cambelt but you still need the locking tools to maintain timing due to the floating pulleys, non-keyed crank sprocket etc. I had my crank pulley changed by my garage earlier in the year as it was squealing like mad and only needed to replace the aux...
Looks like you’ve broken the plug off the injector itself, new injector required I would say.
Wouldn’t drive the car as it is, as it will only be running on 3 cylinders with that injector not being operable.
I feel you’re pain with respect to troublesome filter removal, they can be a right...
When I accidentally drained the box after popping the inner CV boot off the driveshaft bearing during a ball joint change (don’t ask!), the box oil was properly black.
From looking back at the history, it looks like the box oil was circa 20k old tho but was proper Elf oil.
Happened to me a few weeks ago and was an utter pain! I managed to open the bonnet, without having to break or cut anything by pulling off the front bumper carefully to leave the front grill in place and then used a long, thin-ish flatblade screwdriver in the gap I’ve highlighted in the photo...
@Dloy90 I found Venom Motorsport was one of the cheapest places for a MOMO boss when I bought mines a few months ago. Just bought my OMP Targa (330mm) wheel from Rival Motorsport as there were actually slightly cheaper than YBRacing on eBay (plus I’ve had a previous bad experience with YB, so I...
Welcome along, another member of the £1k bargain club :up:
SWR are pretty good, mines is also going in there next week for its MOT, and they’ll keep you right with what it needs.
@dCi_rep
Yeah the seem decent quality stuff from having looked at them, they’ve still to be fitted so can’t comment on that aspect yet.
If you are thinking of buy a set, I found their eBay store cheaper than the website and if you’re buying a full set of 6, buy the over axle lines and 4 other...
I’ve got the set of these braided lines to fit to my 172, as mines also needs the over axle brake pipes replaced;
https://www.prolinemotorsport.co.uk/product-page/clio-172-182-6-line-kits
The same company also sell them on eBay and normally sell the rear over axle braided hoses on their own...
1.2 8v mk1 complete with speedline vegas’, rage back box, interior plastics sprayed blue (how mid 2000s) and a heater that only worked on fan speed 1! Only had it about a month due to insurance issues (why did I decide to declare everything 😅) but it was a great 4 weeks.
@imprezaworks i think you’re right, mines looks the same as the one in @Photomattbrown photo and having looked back my eBay purchase history It appears mines is the “hybrid” fast road/race version, rather than a pure race one.
