Can't go wrong with a safety devices cage, I had one in my previous 182 and was pretty decent
Another option is JP Cages, which have a very reputation.
What I did notice was that there was a smell of petrol in the oil when I checked the dipstick.
Could this have been caused by the alternator issue whereby they wasn't enough power for the spark plugs to ignite the fuel? Or should I be worried that the piston rings are on there way out?

Hi all
I changed the spark plugs on my clio 172 today, and whilst there checked the oil level.
What I did notice was that there was a smell of petrol.

So got 2 jobs out of many done today, which was the spark plug change and PMS Stud Conversion.
Didn't realise it had spacers on the front when bought it so studs are just abiut long enough.
Excuse the dirty car, been in garage since its been back and haven't had a chance to wash as been offshore...
Yes mate, very happy now lol
Haha, quite possibly as I do like training😂 I did break it for parts but still havent bought a house😬
It was this clio I had previously
Okay sweet, hopefully I can see you there😎
Cheers buddy :)
Probably next month when get back from offshore. @NorthloopCup is getting a gearbox sorted for me, so will all go in at same time:love:
So the clio got delivered this about midday today all the way from Lockerbie by the recovery company.
Needed a push to get it off the vehicle and onto to the yard
However, because the battery was proper dead I had to get it jump started of the daily to be able to move it.
Once started...
So ordered the above alternator which should be here in 2 working days.
Also ordered an additional 1 litre of valvoline 5w-50 as free shipping so works out cheaper than Opie Oils.
Gotta speak to recovery company today to see where to drop it off.
Not yet, I just wanted to get home as was 300miles from home still when it died.
The recovery company are going to bring it down either Tuesday/ Wednesday so will check it then[emoji106]

Yes mate, soul destroying as so far away from home and just spent all that money on a supposedly full working car.
Having a look for a new alternator, and I think mine is 110amp as its not a cup which means it the more expensive one e.g. RPD is £211 for the 110amp vs £149 for the 75amp
Yesterday was a "interesting" day to say the least.
I went up to East Calder, Edinburgh to pick the car up finally.
Got car, and started driving home down towards the M74.
App. 15mins into the drive, the stop and battery symbol intermittently come on and then in stayed on.
It then stayed on...
So cambelt kit has arrived from @renaultpartsdirect, just waiting on parts from @Kev@KAM.
Also, in touch with @NorthloopCup to supply a rebuilt gearbox with a gripper diff, 80nm pre-load and 13/59 final drive.
Have just order the cambelt kit from @renaultpartsdirect which consists of the following:
- Cam Belt Kit
- dephaser pulley
- water pump
- auxiliary belt only
- crank bolt
- cam seals kit
- cylinder head end plugs (x2)
