The car we had at college had an actual kill switch in the dash, then one on the scuttle which was like a dummy switch if you like, linked to the main switch in the dash via cables similar to those used on bicycle brakes and remote fire extinguisher pulls etc.
Mine were left soaking in WD-40 every night for 7-10 days before changing. Unions came undone with an open ended spanner without rounding. Its all luck of the draw and obviously depends on corrosion etc but it didn't seem like that bad of a job. Of course you've always got the possibility of...
I Did this exact task yesterday.
I'd been spraying WD-40 on the unions for last week to try and help when it came to change day. I purchased some cheapy flare spanners but these didn't really fit so had to go open ended. Luckily the unions came undone. Just a manner of remove and replace after...
The 'Fitment on the Car' tab explains how the differing patterns make no difference to water dispersion.
I run mine at 32psi all round but to be fair i've managed to burn my fronts up in a few thousand miles just with road driving.
Not impressed as the Rainsport 2's seemed miles better
Just have to make sure the data can be used for tethering as the 4G router might flag as tethering use. Some providers restrict tethering data to stop exactly why you're doing 😂 just read the terms and check it for sure and check how the router uses the data and you should be fine
I've just fitted the Mintex M1144's and they require the same sanding of the paint from the tabs, literally just the paint and they fitted nicely into the carriers :)
Also rocking the Evil Motorsport dogbone and a powerflex exhaust insert (I'm aware I'm missing a bolt in the mount, the b*****d broke:tearsofjoy:). Ordered a load of brake bits from George too so the upgrades list is growing!
I've been thinking about the Skoda Fabia splitter to be fair, nice and cheap and subtle!
Team Dynamics Pro Race 3's in Glitter Gloss Silver, recently bought new from team dynamics. I've been thinking about AP Coilovers as they're fairly budget and apparently soft enough for road use?
Hi All,
Just realised I've never actually posted any pictures of my 172 on here, so I'm fixing that now, hopefully this works as I'm using the 'upload a file' function on a mobile so here goes nothing 😂 So far I've only changed the wheels since owning it but I hope to progress it on...
Household fibre broadband will be fibres ran to a street cab where BT or whoever will house their DSLAM Exchange equipment, closer you are to a DSLAM the better, in rural zones its sometimes possible toblibe closer to an exchange than a fibre enabled street cab, meaning you'd get faster lines...
Typically if you live in a rural area all the local infrastructure will he owned by BT/Openreach anyway, so swapping providers may not get you internet any quicker. If you're in a major city other providers are expanding their infrastructure so may be good to shop around
The measurement I gave you off mine was from a tensioner that was removed when having the cambelt changed and all tensioners and pulleys replaced due to bearing noise, turned out it was a shagged water pump so the tensioner should be in okay condition. Im assuming the measurement is correct!!
Mine is always dribbling out from underneath the nozzle. Took the spoiler/wing off yesterday to see if the pipe had split or anything and all looked good. I've just come to accept it as part of the car, it is annoying when it leaves a dirty great water mark down the back window though.
Hi Guys,
Yet another brake question thread, but times move on and there may be new things since the other threads so thats my justification:tearsofjoy:
I've been looking at changing out all my brakes on the 172. I've found some things and just wanted to run them past you guys to hear your...
Sorted it in the end. There seemed to be no access what so ever to the back of the middle of the three bolts with the mount in place. I Removed the exhaust from the mount, removed the two bolts (front and back) and span it round. This allowed me to get a hacksaw blade in to cut through the bolt...
Hi Guys,
Recently bought the powerflex exhaust bush that pushes into the standard mount. Went to unbolt the exhaust mount and the centre of the three bolts is just spinning now after some considerable force. Im guessing there was a captive nut welded on the back that has snapped off leaving me...
I've been looking for these also, and the sky high prices for genuine blanks has got me wondering how hard it would be to make a 3D model. I remember a chap on here made a thread about making OZ centre caps using https://www.3dprint-uk.co.uk/ , looks a quality service.
Car is coming up to 80k soon with no history of a clutch change. Is there no way to adjust the clutch cable? Seem to remember some method of disconnecting the clutch end the of the cable, giving the clutch a few pushes then reconnecting?
Just came back to this and its turned into a bit of a debate, whoops!
Clutch Bite doesnt feel abnormally worn. Im gonna change gearbox oil and see how it goes, gear changes have been feeling smoother recently, maybe it was all in my head all along, coming from a golf mk4 maybe I should...
In that case i'll probably just change out the gear oil as theres no record of it and it cant hurt, and continue to blip the throttle on down changes!
Cheers guys
You can blip the throttle up to what i guess would be 'rev matched' engine speed with the clutch fully depressed and only then itll slide in effortlessly. If you're say changing from 5th to 4th/3rd for a roundabout, without blipping the throttle youd have to wait for a significant decrease in...
Hi All,
Just a quick question really, when changing down gears it feels like they are literally blocked off until you rev the engine a tad and the gears slide in a treat. My first car was a 1.2 8v which did the same. Is this a clio thing or a sign of problems to come?😂
(Evol...
I'd come along to this for a look! On a side note, Markerboy are you the Liquid Yellow 182 i keep exchanging waves with around the boundary/mile cross area of Norwich?
