They're joined Chip. Although the CV's do remove from each end making the shaft re-usable in the future.
By happy coincidence the Renault shaft slides fairly snug inside the VW one making the jointing a little easier. I have a jig I made from angle steel that I use to clamp the 2 parts...
I'd love to be able to, but I really didn't have the time to make jigs for replication, and I don't think there would have been enough demand to make those hours worthwhile. So sadly not sorry, just bellhousing adaptors and steel 240mm flywheels available presently. If you're handy with...
Hi Danny, thats it :)
Some pictures as promised. They're a bit poor, they were really only supposed to be reference for me in the future.

Cheers, Chris
The customer will need to supply the bits I listed Danny. £1800 includes the custom flywheel, hardware, general materials and labour.
I should have made clear also that by "drive shafts" I mean stock VW shafts.
Cheers, Chris
I should have kept this thread up to date, sorry guys.
02M 6 speed VW/Audi gearbox upgrade:
I reaslised there wasn't going to be enough interest to manufacture the kit in any kind of volume. Of the many folk that contacted me regarding carrying out a 6 speed conversion only one chap saw it...
No R5 sorry, it's in hibernation still. I'm just waiting for some space at the garage so I can bring it and get to work !
Can those planning on running confirm by letting me know here so I can see how long the day will last.
Cheers, Chris :)
Hi lads, just a reminder, the RR day is this Sunday coming. If anyone has any questions or concerns its always best to email me, I can't miss it then.
Cheers, Chris
Hi Chip. I wasn't making reference to individual plots.
I could see that people were trying to overlay plots of different cars from different dyno's, some with different RPM limits. It was not possible for me to be sure that every one of those dyno plots was synchronized.
I'm not saying...
Please remember guys that the torque curve from a chassis dyno relies heavily on the operators RPM synchronization (and hence tach accuracy) and the absence of wheel spin. Torque curves should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Hi All,
I've recently had a few different guys ask about the possibility of doing a Cliosport rolling road day at EFI-Parts. I've taken the plunge and set a date for Sunday April 15th with a 10am start.
I know a couple of you came along to the open day we had last month and hopefully they will...
Thanks for the email Tyler, hopefully we can get something ClioSport only organised soon :)
Some pictures from the day pinched from the photographers SD card before it goes off to PFC:
Hi guys,
Do you think there will be enough interest to do a Cliosport only day ?
We did a great little write up for PFC with the last one and perhaps they could be interested in covering a Cliosport day too.
Cheers, Chris
Thanks buddy, I'm glad it was a half decent day out. I didn't expect as many folk to turn up given the crap weather so it was great to see a good turnout.
That black R5 was not mine actually, but it looks very similar doesn't it. That's a customer of mine called Robbie from London, A-framed it...
Sorry to hear that Tutuur, money problems are rarely good. I hope you resolve it soon.
Another short update.
Yesterday I did some test fitting in an engine bay. I mounted an empty 6 speed 02M case to a 172 motor and dropped it in to the scrap shell I've loaned.
In short, the gearbox fits...
Hi all,
The proccess is taking a little longer than expected. To save the wait I aquired a CAT-C Phase 1 172 so that I can test the gearbox fit in the Clio.
Currently I have an adaptor plate and empty gear case fitted to the block. I can only progress with this as time alows. There isn't...
Hi Guys,
I think the majority of you will not know who I am or what EFI-Parts is but at least some of you will know me or at least might know of my Renault related work.
For some years I've run EFI-Parts as a mail-order parts business providing standalone engine management, parts, etc. Along...
Hi Chip,
Yes, a 172, so the idea is to document as I go and make jigs for the mounts so that I can make parts or kits to order in the future. Shafts I will need to do on an exchange basis or I'd modify your existing ones, or just supply the lengths if people are happy having their own or custom...
Hi Tutuur,
To swap to 60-2 it takes some physical modification. It would be a bit costly to change the design for only 1 or 2 flyheels. But it is quite easy - ideally in a mill you would remove part of the double tooth to make it normal size again which then leaves a 2 tooth gap instead of 1...
Hello guys, I have an update.
After some teething problems I can at least now offer one part of the conversion.
I have had some steel, light weight (5.8KG) and balanced one-piece 240mm flywheels made which simply bolt up to the Renault F crank with the standard M9 bolts to accept a single...
I agree they're not rocket science but they were not that straight forward either - it took some back and forth until I was happy with the design and actually I would say that the adaptor plate is far simpler. My delay with those has been a lack of getting a Clio in to the workshop for a trial...
Hi Tutuur, that is gear dependant boost and additional ignition r****d in 1st gear to force it to grip. I couldn't have done that before because it would forever break the R5 driveshafts if it had that much grip. Now I am using Clio RS CV's and hubs, they are much stronger :)
Hi Owen and all,
Indeed there is some progress. Last week I have finalised the design with the engineers and have ordered a couple of samples. I expect them to arrive within the next few weeks and as soon as they do I can inspect them and update this thread with pictures and so on.
In short...
