    The new tool thread

Maybe they've improved and they'll only do it after a month now.

Buggy actually went to it's first event this weekend.

Rescued one outta the bin for comedic purposes.

Buggy actually went to it's first event this weekend.

Here you go @Tory-ing_Rob - the pins did a number on the bronze/teflon bushes in the front end as you can see from the pic: But it's back together and hopefully the wheels are leaning the right way this time :D

Buggy actually went to it's first event this weekend.

I think I just answered that one :D But I have looked at it but not without basically cutting the car off at the front of the windscreen, otherwise you just get double wishbones that don't have any better geo than the trailing arms bar camber gain.

If you're wondering about the positive camber on the front on some pics we bent all 4 pins that the front suspension pivots on. Whoops. Not bad going when they're M16 12.9 bolts...

A few from an event down in Devon too.

Buggy actually went to it's first event this weekend.

Yes, the whole thing was Beetle based originally! Trailing arm rear, twin trailing arm fronts.

Fixed it, got a better vid of those jumps too. Don't have the plate diff any more as it just smashed the centre gears out of it, so we're struggling a bit for traction again but at least it's back to getting fun photos from events:

    Stahlbus speed bleeder valves

I teflon all my bleed nipples when I refurb calipers tbh, makes bleeding way easier. Never used the speedbleeders though as I vacuum bleed everything anyway - I just fit the 2-piece wilwood valves to everything and anything that has damaged seats.

    Off road clio sport 172

Also be careful with aftermarket coilovers they often have less travel than OE stuff so they will drop you into a hole that the OE suspension would have had enough rebound travel to cope with - and then they blow through the compression travel as the chassis drops in right as the wheel hits the...

    Off road clio sport 172

You're gonna smash your CV's from the driveline angles if you're not careful, taller tyres are your best bet if you can fit even bigger in the arches.

    Understeer on track

I mean, sorta the wrong way around, you want the rear bar stiffer to cure understeer, not softer.

    Power Tool Perverts

Same, my little DTW300 does almost anything including crank nuts, there's the odd occasion it needs more but the size of it to get into tight spaces more than makes up for the odd occassion of getting something bigger out The 700 looks a nice balance to start with.

    Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022

Was really looking forward to taking the buggy but unfortunately I have eye surgery tommorow so that put the brakes on that early on. One day!

    Godspeed Hook discs

That's a moronic bit of machining putting the stress raiser that close to the edge. People machining discs to look fancy without a damned thought.

Welp, smashed the diff. But had some fun beforehand:

    Vehicle Tampering vote.

No, it's gonna make it even easier, you're doing cooling, heatsink mods and modifying the controllers and parameters with your laptop at home with easily available gear, motor rewinds and swaps will become off the shelf with firms rewinding for more speed vs torque or with hex wire (or silver...

    Lanoguard and ACF50

Bilt Hamber UC is clear, dry film wax, sounds like just what you're looking for. Used it before it's been great stuff.

It's not bad in the car to be honest, the dust was worse fixing the brakes while everyone else was going past!

Buggy actually went to it's first event this weekend.

Glad you're enjoying it :D It's been a long road, was only expecting to do a few runs before we broke something so 2 full days of racing was amazing. Lost 10 minutes with the rear brakes locking on on the 3rd stage but a jack and an angle grinder fixed the tolerance issue nicely ;) Was only...

Since a few of you followed the old build thread, some pics and vids from the weekend. Had a few issues, took it steady because of a clutch problem and also listening to every noise expecting something to break, but it finished 2 days of racing, so very happy with that.

Hit a brick and oil pissing out!

^Probably the easiest/cheapest option. If it's good, great, if it rattles, it needed a sump anyway.

Hit a brick and oil pissing out!

The oil pressure light is set so low unless you were toddling along with next to no load and turned it off immediately it'd be fucked by the time you turned off anyway. Why on earth would you drive it home with oil pissing out if you were only 5 minutes away instead of walking?!
