Northloop Cup (mark) built me a box with gripper diff and Megane 5th gear, love the lower 5th gear and diff really comes into its own out of chicanes/tight stuff especially.
Great guy to deal with too!
Don't think Lee does corner weighting, but good job for the laser alignment/camber adjustment. Had my track car done there each year with no complaints
As already said, go for carbon Lorraine pads....no bedding in required, just brutal from the off. Did find my rc6 too much actually until i'd done a session or two and the edge had gone off them, before that just wanted to lock up every time I stood on the brakes!
I'd like to try the rc8 next...
Nice looking cages mate. What make are they? Look very similar to safety devices but obviously through the dash.....attachment brackets from rear cage to front section appear identical even so I'm guessing could be easy for you to produce the front section to go onto a safety devices cage? Might...
I have the eibach bolts but I'd assume they are the same....run 2.5 degrees, on max negative camber just over 3 is achievable, with 10 minutes toe out.
I still don't understand why, if the cage really suddenly won't comply anymore that they can't produce a front section to replace the existing 'non compliant' ones at the very least, supplied at a considerably discounted rate to customers with the existing cage.
As said, the rules haven't...
As above, total pisser really as I bought a full safety devices last year and had it professionally fitted with the intention of building the car to race spec.....if the cage is indeed no longer acceptable that's nearly £1,500 chucked away! I wouldn't give them any of my money again when they...
I've not made it to Thruxton yet but we keep saying we should go for a change, have you done it in your Clio yet?!
Gripper was a very expensive mod as I had the box rebuilt at the same time and a lower ratio 5th gear......definitely gives me the edge over a mate in his with a similar spec...
Your car is looking really good by the way!
I've got a very similar spec'd 182 (racing blue) with the bc's etc and a gripper diff.....great little cars!!
I only live 10 minutes from Combe so go there a lot, may see you there sometime
Having got the cage myself I can't see how/why the newer style front section couldn't fit the old style rear cage as that won't change I don't expect, would be purely a money making exercise in my opinion!
Ive got a friend who fitted mine who is a fabricator/cage builder anyway so will mention...
That's absolute crap that they won't make the new style front cage compatible with the old rear cage.....don't see any reason why they can't other than to make someone have to buy a complete new cage that has the old one!! Very poor show from safety devices if that is the case (and I fitted a...
Yes, basically the trailer will go the opposite way to which way you turn the wheel....does take some getting used to but if you're smart about it you shouldn't need to do much!
If you do try and reverse round right hand corners so to speak so you can look over your shoulder and see where the...
Is that a lithium ion battery? Saw those at autosport show, looked smart and a fair bit lighter again aren't they!!?
Do they charge the same as a normal lead acid battery with standard alternator etc?
What size is that one?
I've got that trailer, it's a fair sized beast and will be a fair bit wider than your car so that's the main thing to be aware of when using country lanes/getting over for incoming traffic! Just use your mirrors a lot and go steady taking tight turns. Have you ever reversed with a trailer?
What's the thought behind wanting a base mounted seat?
I'd only ever bother with bucket seats for a track car not for 'looks' to use in my daily, really don't see the point unless you're using harnesses with them too which are also a pain on a regular basis!
Cobra suzuka, awesome seat.....really supportive and comfortable for a bucket seat. Slim and snug fitting, I put a Sebring in my Clio last year but just couldn't get on with the lack of visibility from the wing back so took a bit and bought a Suzuka. Think it was around £400 from GSM seats iirc...
It's crazy really how well they go with such low boost/power really for a 2ltr turbo, becaus they're so light I guess....bet the diff really comes into its own as well !
7 psi then, the torque will start climbing when you chuck a bar of boost through it ☺️
I've got a mk1 focus rs as well that...
Think you might need to look at whether or not you've fitted everything correctly.....I have no problem with the rear being low on mine with the BC kit fitted.
Think I saw you when I was on the way home from work in the van, well your car on the trailer lol....A350 on the way out of Chippenham
260bhp will be plenty for now I bet, I guess 300bhp odd running a bar of boost?
I'd love my track car to be running 260bhp, jealous haha!
I used a set of 888r's this year....lasted pretty well considering but do go off towards the end of a session. Had to swap them round several times to get the grip back but that's not unusual......overall I thought they were good but not outstanding!
Went through a set of federal rsr's last...
Proper track tyres are night and day over normal road tyres tbh.....road noise can be horrific though, if it's used on the road as well try and buy a spare set of rims for some track tyres.
I ran rc5+ in my track car for the last year or so and they do tail off in terms of initial bite after they've got properly hot but still work really well.
I've gone to rc6 now and they're noticeably much better, though far too grabby until I'd done a couple of sessions. Combine them with the...
Carbon Lorraine RC6 are awesome to be honest, just with new brembo hc discs....not a hint of fade after a hard 20 minutes on track and still plenty of bite next time out.
I only drive Castle Combe though and don't actually race, but I'm only a second a lap off of the top ktec cup series guys...
Will be almost impossible to accommodate both of you properly if you're that different size wise.....you'll have to get the smallest seat he can squeeze into or you'll be rattling around all over the place!
Definitely need to go and sit in as many as possible with different cushion...
Hey mate.....that's bloody bad luck that, gutted for you!! At least the potential was there and the engine/diff etc was obviously working really well and looking like setting a good time if things hadn't conspired against you!
Have to get it out on some uk tracks instead once it's up and...
They squeal like a pig I'm afraid, work really well though.....had a set in my track car for the last year or so. Would do my head in if I used it on the road lots, squeaky brakes are so embarrassing haha!!
Edit to say, the squeaking is only ever with low speed stops....never when they've got...
