Top notch stuff, #1 has just decided for me what I'm doing for the other halfs Christmas card (we always make one for each other), so cheers, I'm stealing that idea ;)
As above he 50mm is teeny so it doesn't really matter, fits in my pocket easily. Mainly use it for long exposure night shots when I can because the blades create awesome star effects on the lights.
Tough call, if I was to do it all over again I would still go with a D90 and nice lens (Sigma 50-150 in my case) over a D300. The rugged weather-proof body of the D300 would be nice, but even though I shoot in harsh conditions a lot with motorsport it's still not a deal breaker for me. Picture...
Bit nippy yes. Apparently it's almost never that nice in Bruges (I know 4 people who've been, 7 trips in total, and it's rained every single one of them) so I'm gutted I never got a chance to take some proper photos. Easily the most photogenic place I've been, especially with the weather like it...
Went to Lille and Bruges this weekend, thought we would try out one of those Coach Tour things always advertised in the paper (and yes it was full of old people), picked up 10 minutes walk from our house, Eurotunnel crossing, 5hrs in Lille, stay in a nice hotel, 4hrs in Bruges, Eurotunnel back...
Where did you find that quote?! Yep I won that last year, it's what I had to take to Venice to do this article for them. Sold it to somebody on here iirc.
Bit of discussion about this in the previous thread and it seemed to be received well ('normal' service will be resumed after this one closes), basically, post your best pic of 2008 in this thread and we will do the normal vote thing.
Comp runs from now until midnight Thursday 18th December...
Chuffin eck! Assumed this must be a 2.8 or something at that RRP but then had a nosey on Warehouse Express and realised a Nikon 2.8 lens at that sort of length would be about £900!
Seems like a cracking lens though, nice focal length and after experiencing VR I know how good that can be.
Top notch stuff, even more so as I was expecting you to say "300mm 2.8" or something along those lines. Hard to pick a favourite, but I would probably go with the Ben Gott shot, great capture.
Do you mind me asking why you went with the 18-200, considering you travel the country shooting...
Yep it is a great place, want to spend some proper time there one day.
Didn't go in the Louvre as it wasn't really part of my assignment, but walked all around it etc. Think I walked about 20 miles in a a day (midday Sat to midday Sun), pretty epic weekend.
As mentioned it will work, the key bit to look for is "AFS" with Nikon lens, or "HSM" if it's a Sigma lens, and I think "IF" for Tamron. Just to make it clear, almost every lens will 'work' just fine, but will be lacking autofocus without those designations.
Wouldn't worry too much if you ever...
It was heading in the Bristol direction on the A420 about 1:30pm, I passed it at the Texaco garage just near the Castle Combe turn off. Not sure if it was a Cup now you say, it was a female driver though.
Yup. Can try adding some of your photos to Groups as well. Just find a few relevant Groups, join them then add some photos to them.
Tags are best though imo, camera make, model, lens, location of photo and a few things like that.
Bit rubbish at distances, but I was stood about 50m from the braking point for Camp and I couldn't actually see the corner at all, I was there 3 hours before I even saw the paddock buildings!
Each group did quite a few laps behind the safety car (but moving pretty briskly) first thing in the...
Did a Candle last night, more variation in lighting due to the fact there was a light source involved (obviously), all good fun though and I like the home-made feel...

I was one of two spectators today, bit on the chilly side to be stood around all day, and almost zero visibility for the first few hours didn't really help :)
Good fun though, some very quick cars out playing (loved the Exige)
finally cleared just as I...
Amazing, as much as I love the motor racing / sports stuff a lot of it is wheeled out on a regular basis for various events so I figured there must be a place like this. What's more impressive to me as that they have all those standard road models wrapped up as well, I always figured that...
