Ok bodged is probably not the best term, but the fact it shares the same tech as the ipad 2 which is no two generations old (which in Apple time is now like a year old!)

I am in principle yes, mainly because Apple strive to make the best products. Full stop. The mini seems to be the first time they've bodged something together to fill a gap in the market. Very true. One thing that's bugging me is that my 1st gen ipod touch is showing its age, and the battery...

A lot of people saying the display is quite dated, no where near as sharp as competition, and has a very poor colour gamut etc.

Well they only came in silver or blue iirc, they usually have a 172 Cup badge on the door pillars too, or somewhere near there.

Never had any problems with the music player, except iTunes Match which is utter s**t since iOS 6.

Very true. Although on a mobile, it would still try to load the larger images, which is a concern. This chap is a great photographer, and uses large images http://dejansokolovski.com/ I assume they load fine for everyone? If so, large images will be the way to go.
