Any of them due an aux belt. Your the only man who used genuine bits on them anymore and I’ve got a Renault aux belt kit I can’t get shut of 😂 as for the mapping I’m intrigued to see how it goes!

    Bulkhead Heatshield

The nuts are a specific thread and hard to come by. I’ve got the part number for them written down somewhere. They were nearly £2 a nut when I ordered some 6 months ago so wouldn’t be surprised if they have gone up. I’ve also used the bmw style plastic ones before and had no issues

Engines not out yet. And with the messing it would take you’d be better getting one from euro or eBay 👍🏻 @AIRBORNEGOD

    Timing up 197 cams for a 182

@ryancook1993 Use the genuine Renault tools to lock the crank, and then the 197 8 degree timing tool to accurately time the cams up. The rest of the timing is done no differently. Just the horse shoe tool is replaced by the 197 timing tool 👍🏻 Hope that helps to explain.

    Timing up 197 cams for a 182

Use the standard Renault timing tools. But instead of using the Renault horse shoe tool. Use a 197 timing tool. 7 or 8 degrees depending on how you want it and mappers preference. Where are you based. I have the 197 tool you can rent. Cheers

    Catalytic converter prices

Yeah the reality is they get bombarded with messages. And in most cases it’s people thinking they can wait a week and get more. So probably end up replying to the same person over again for the same cat 🤷‍♂️

    Gear linkage/front pivot play

@MLB I’ve come to a bit of a full stop with development as the car I was using for “road testing” and miles is currently off the road. In terms of where I’m upto, V1 was a success in terms of reducing play. I then sent a revised drawing to the machine shop and had a prototype made up for V2...

Any differences between Ph1 172 and ph2 172 bottom end

I believe the crankshaft is slightly different in terms of weight. I’m sure someone else will be along to confirm or deny this but if I recall there is a difference between ph1, ph2 and 197/200. This shouldn’t affect anything in terms of a standard rebuild though!

    Gear linkage/front pivot play

Oulton was good! Solid day with no dramas. The bushes that I had made I’m 90% happy with but there’s improvements to be made. There’s an immediate initial difference in shift quality which is good. Changes have been made to the design but I’m currently isolating with covid so that’s causing a...

@minimental what width and offset are the scenic steels? I’ve got some et42 and 6,5” on my daily van and they sit well with 20mm spacers front and rear. Interested to hear if yours are different 👍🏻

Just to keep things updated. Bushes have been collected from the machine shop. Fitting this week followed by a trackday at oulton park at the weekend so a nice mix of road and track miles. 👍🏻 Hope to be able to update further with positive news! Cheers

    Gear linkage/front pivot play

@MLB from what I can see there is a couple of different linkage types. I have two different linkages here and neither look like the one on the video.
