Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
That's because you hear and see Ash written down many times a day, whereas nobody else knows the name. Truthfully James Ash Racing sounds pretty good to me, also it sounds an honest team name. Anything with...

Honestly James I'm not too keen on it, what about simply "James Ash Racing", sounds much cooler/old-school to me.
I'm not picking the car up until probably Tuesday or Wednesday evening now due to delays at the powder-coaters. No real problem, just means a bit longer wait.

I'f it were me personally James I would probably spray the mirrors satin black along with the other little bits and then have some fun with the loud wheels. If you want to add some extra colour afterwards then...

Satin black bullets and diamonds would look good against the grey bodywork and then the orange wheels and mirrors would add a bit of colour but not too much to spoil it.

James, don’t go overboard on the colour-coding!! IMO I think orange mirrors would look smart with the orange wheels but the badges etc might look a bit OTT. (Orange should really be kept for wishbones...
That’s one thing I can’t do without – SLEEP!! ….I don’t think I get enough of it as it is.Yep, hopefully collecting it after work tomorrow, sometime around 18:00, just depends on whether the bits arrive this afternoon and everything is assembled and tested by then.
Make that a 458 Challenge car then. Or would I want a GT3 RSR??!! Great, hopefully see you and Tony on the 14th then. (I’ve seen a poster of the Burpspeed car on the wall in the TDF garage.)
I’m digressing I know, but the last time I was at Brands there was a 430 Challenge car, I’m not a Ferrari guy but that looked the absolute nuts, it hovered up everything on track and then sat patiently raised up on its air-jacks when in the pits. If/when I’m an international play-boy I want a...
Are you just an international play-boy or is there any work that gets in the way of your gentleman-racer pastime? My spare day’s holidays are sparse due to holidaying with the wife otherwise would’ve come along to one of your day’s mid-week. Would be good to have something else to play with on...
Ouch! With regards your mirrors would just recommend sanding and spraying them, you’d have to sand the mirrors before wrapping so you’re 75% there anyway.
I’m out at Brands Wednesday March 14th if you fancy a pace car!? Are your days at Brands mid-week or at the weekend, if a weekend then...
I will most likely be collecting it Thursday evening so it will be around till then. I'm really looking forward to collecting it and feeling what a difference everything has made. If by any chance you're around we could take Faulks for a pint?
Ha ha, thanks mate. I wouldn't notice if I...
I'm only relaying what Matt at TDF has explained to me a couple of times when I've enquired about popping a 182 manifold on, even money no option he said to keep my 172 manifold on.
It's a misconception that the 182 manifold is better than the 172, the 182 will produce a slightly higher peak figure, buts it's because it has a 'bump' in the curve. The 172 manifold is much better as it has flatter torque curve with more torque spread out over the range.
Thanks James, am waiting on Matt to send me a few pictures of the other bits we might have cleaned-up/powdered at the same time as the uprights, looking forward to picking it up later this week. Did you get a chance to look around the car?
Ha ha, thanks James – thought you’d like it.
Thanks mate, its definitely coming along.
….what a great idea would just have to get some to compliment the orange….
Yes, its actually now going to be there until sometime next week as I’ve decided to have new front bearings fitted and while the...
It also depends on the weights of your springs, but camber wise I'm running -3 front and -2 rear with the front shocks left fully soft and the rears dilled to about 50-70% hard depending on track and the surface. I’ve been through lots of permeations and spring weights etc but the current...
Courtesy of Mr Faulks, picture of strengthened wishbones and rear-beam, they were Tig-welded and powder-coated in a flexible paint so should be ok on the ARB.

Hi James, ditto the request for the pictures of the false floor - something i've been thinking about doing to mine.
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
What about if I include my orange heat-shrinked front ARB?!
(If I hadn’t got the Willwood callipers on already and recently upgraded to the AP Racing 295mm discs I think I probably would’ve gone for a set of...
