Thanks.
I don’t desperately need or want grooved discs; it’s just that I might as well have paid the bit extra for the grooved Max's rather than the standard HC's – if they were available. As the car is brand new is it really worth upgrading the OEM discs to HC's?
It doesn’t look like there is a Brembo Max disc available for the 200 yet (and presumably therefore also the197). This is also backed up by JMS’ supplier not being able to supply one for the 200.
Now I either have the option of upgrading to a ‘standard’ HC, or just leave the brand-new OEM...
Now, the ‘standard’ HC discs look to be a normal silver/grey, but the Max discs (which from what I understand are just standard HC’s but with the grooves) are black. So it is just perhaps the Max discs that are painted black?
The Brembo site clearly shows them as all-black: http://www.brembo.com/ENG/AfterMarketBrakes/
But yes, it does mention a "protective coat of paint' which I originally missed.
The ones on the Brembo site look different to K-Tec's as they have two sets of groves rather than K-Tec's one groove...
I understand the bell is black but what colour is the braking surface?
If the braking surface is black does this wear off or is the disc black all the way through?
(Are the non-grooved HC discs black?)
I’m thinking about a set for the front, but if they are all black it might look a bit...
I enquired about a set of 888’s yesterday at my favourite tyre garage and was told that Toyo have stopped selling them to ‘normal’ tyre garages and that they are now only selling to Motorsport garages
As above.
I’m picking mine up 1st March and the same days it’s off to JMS for some grooved Brembo HC’s on the front, Ferrodo DS2500 pads, braided hoses & fluid all round.
Next will be Toyo 888 tyres. As my 200 will be a 2nd car and will be 95% driven in the dry I’m just going to keep the...
Mark the holes, then use a small metal drill-bit and then some metal screws. Simples.
Do it fairly near the bottom of the seat-back (say 10cm) so that you don't have too much of the wires showing that can get snagged and then put all the slack under the back seat.
If you're thinking of fitting a turbo it's probably best to leave the internals alone until you do as you might need the standard profile or even a different specific one for the turbo conversion. I'd save the money for the time being and put it towards the turbo kit.
Otherwise keep it NA and...
Then forgive me for thinking your comments were a bit strong: “cause ripping off/smoothing over every badge in sight is for neds that think it looks cool when really it looks cack”
If you like badges on and I don’t then great as it’s good to be different after all.
I certainly wouldn’t think...
What/who are neds??
As far as I can see, the only reason cars have badges on is free advertising for the manufactures.
Why does it matter if you have a 1.2 or a 5.0?? Surely they are bought for other reasons than showing other people what size engine or specked car you have.
Its like...
I've ordered a RS 200 in the same colour and with same wheels (good choice!!) and first chance will be taking all the badges off (obviously not the Renault diamond), think it looks/will look so much cleaner. Who cares if nobody knows it's an RS, we do and that's all that counts. Never...
Thanks guys.
Yes I’ll miss the bike, but truthfully I don’t think I’m a biker at heart, have always been and always will be into cars.
Regardless of price it’s been ages since a car has put a smile on my face – until the demo on Saturday!!
Hot-hatches are just such good fun, they haven’t...
Thanks guys.
Coincidentally, I've today just changed my order to a RS 200 (rather than the Cup) which comes with AC as standard, but with the optional Cup package, as this isn't way much more money than ordering the Cup but with optional AC. Plus I get a few additional little luxuries like...
Hi everyone
I ordered a RS 200 Cup yesterday, it won't arrive until probably mid-February, in which case I will probably wait until 1st March to collect it with the new reg.
Thought I would register on the site and get involved a bit before the car arrives.
The car is white with black...
