As above. Although I don’t have a headliner and don’t suffer from any condensation even with the windows up, might be worth looking a bit deeper into this.
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
I was only joking – hope you took it that way. Looking forward to the next project/projects/next few projects…..where will it stop!?
(Probably 230bhp, sequential box, Quaife and now I’ve seen them - the...
Thanks Tony. I’m definitely going for the bearing kit as I want to replace the 10 year old original bushes and rather than fit poly bushes might as well fit the bearings as we’re also doing the fronts.
Matt has already advised of the potential for damage if I have a sidewise ‘off’ with the...

I think I might just have said "motorsport" spec throttle package, do I get a discount for being a test mule?
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
....I bet you only went to TDF for a fluid change and then Dr Faulks started pouring honey in your ear and months later you ended up with a touring-car!!
Good luck mate and also with the car.
(Mines a TDF...
The Sportline 2’s are fantastic, glad I paid the extra over the Sportline 1’s.
TBH I’m not sure if you keep or remove the spring platforms if you fit the strengthening kit, would be good to tidy the beam up by removing them. Dr Faulks had said to keep them as they’ll provide a little...
I have AST Sportline 2 coilovers so the old spring platforms are redundant, from what I gather though these remain as there’s no point removing them and they add a little stiffness/bracing.
As mentioned I’m not running a rear ARB, the rear end is just so ‘adjustable’ as it is with the...
It’s the Pure wishbone kit that we’re fitting to the front, so will have the stiffening plate and bearings (plus new ball joints and track rod ends). Am going to just have uprated poly bushes on the front anti-roll bar.
The conundrum I’m at is whether to have the Pure rear-beam kit stiffening...
Ah, I see you're "Getting TDF'D", I made thatmistake a year ago and the car just keeps going back every few weeks for somemore work....... it's like a drug.
Cool, let me know how the bearings go, are you fitting them front and rear?
No worries mate. Obviously I'm going to be biased but get yourself a PH1 172!! Without wanting to sound flash I could/can afford (within reason!!) whatever car I wanted but still chose a PH1 as a basis for a track car, I think they look much better than the later PH2's and 182's and they come...
These kind of questions are all things you need to find out for yourself, search on this site and on the net, but to start you off - a cable throttle on the PH1 is what it sounds: a cable operated throttle as opposed a newer drive-by-wire (electronic), the advantages of the throttle cable will...
Shop around and spend your time researching. I wanted a PH1 because IMO they look better and also have the lighter aluminum bonnet, cable throttle and big valve head etc etc, plus although I was going to track it I didn’t want a Cup because I still wanted the ABS for the wet, so I waited until I...
Noooooooo don’t do it………. Unfortunately two of the three (The Clio and one of the other two) have pins in the back to fit into holes in the boot.
I tried this, buggered the badges taking them off, found there were holes with then the only option to buy new badges again!
Definitely would...
Obviously Tony and Jay are more experienced mechanics, but what I would say as an amateur is that I managed fairly easily with just normal garage tools reading through the instructions and with the car on axle-stands. (I re-wrote the instructions for Yanoo so they read a bit better in English...
Macs are lovely bits of kits to use and they look great, not sure if they’re any good for gaming though.
My advice would be to stick with your X-box which has 100 times the choice of good games and if you really want to, save up for a gaming PC.
The difference between a decent gaming PC and...
Do you have a PC to start with that you can upgrade as you go along?
If so then spend your £400-500 on a graphics card/s and pop it/them in your current PC.
If not then save it until you can put another £1k (at least) and do it all in one go.
Otherwise your £500 build will be wasted money as...
I think a dedicated Games platform like the PS3 or X-box will be much better than a PC at gaming until you start spending serious money on a PC build.
1000W+ power supply, Dual or triple GPU’s, SSD hard drives, Lots of RAM, I7 CPU, Decent SATA-6 motherboard, Lots of cooling, Etc etc. Probably...
As above, last week at Brands I was lapping a 997 GT3 and a couple of months ago an R8 in the wet, rather than my 172 being a supercar slayer just means that for whatever reason the drivers were novices or not pushing it.
For a similar price there are the Willwood caliper set-ups avalible and you could go for a larger disc diameter of 295mm (£699), have a look at Jamsport http://www.jam-sport.co.uk/
