Just check its service history i.e make sure it has one lol!! Other than that, just general wear and tear like any other car. If it has recaros check for bolster wear. Otherwise there pretty good.
Since early this year my dash has lit up like a christmas tree, i have no traction control or abs and reads 'brake fault'. Sometimes its on and off intermittently which is weird? Not really sure what it is, maybe dirt on the abs sensor from all the snow? Brake switch? It has been fault code read...
I average 28 ish in mine. On a run about 34/35 at 70. But the computer is wrong by about 3-4 mpg from what ive worked out. Its not the best, but its not the worst. If your careful its ok but the loud pedal makes it move at a rapid pace lol. Best ive had is 412 miles from one tank, but i didnt...
Try some of the peeps on clio197.net. Some guys on there can get some pretty good discounts. Either that or maybe try a body shop. I got my cup spoiler loads cheaper from them.
The 200 is the better car without a doubt. But how much better i personally think is exaggerated a bit much. But the little tweaks it does have, have made it into a fantastic drivers car!!! But like its been said its all personal preference as to what you like. I own an R27 but im not a fan boy...

I've got a Powerflow on mine and I love it!! Never had one problem with it and it sounds awesome. Everyone I've met from the 197 site loves the sound. I think it's better and nicer to live with than the milteks etc.
Speak to jamsport mate. Mine is booked in on sat for a full supersprint decat exhaust, inlets, shrick cams and a remap. Ill be posting a thread when its done so you'll see the gains in a week or so. It isnt cheap tho i can assure you lol!!
Jam sport are doing a supercharger at the moment on a...
????
r26 for track and 225 with cup pack for best of both? There near enough the same car lol!!!
R26 the best but with your budget an f1 would be the best.
Despite what brown bear says about the 197's there not gutless. There good revvy cars, excellent handling and probably the most costly...
I think the 197/200 feels more tourqey than my 182 ever did. I still drive my mates 182 a lot and when I get back in mine the 197 pulls better and feels more grunty beyond 5k. 182 feels better below tho.
^ its about £60-65 filling up with v-power, i get about 300-330 miles per tank. Sport contact 3 tyres from cams kill are £100. Brakes really are not that expensive. I got new disks/pads/dot 5 fluid for £150. I think the only difference running wise is fuel really, ive not noticed much else...
