And just like that, my ownership was over.
Brilliant family car, epic A to B pace with a wonderful noise.
But we don't have kids, so hello Porsche: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/981-boxster-s-my-first-porsche.800283/
So last weekend, Sarah & I bought our first car together
Its something i've wanted for as long as i can remember & she has always (jokingly) said that she'd "rather have a Porsche than a massive UK wedding". Best fiance ever?!
With that in mind, on Sat 17th, we visited a couple of garages...
I wouldn't say they are much bigger, but the difference is noticeable imho. Is perhaps a little wider in the cabin? Certainly feels more airy.
Build quality wise, my R56 is on 71k and has no rattles, my R53 is on 100k and has rattled its t1ts off ever since Richard/I have owned it (since 30k...
Yeah it goes pretty well tbh, being honest, in daily driving, i.e. not like a mentalist, it feels quicker than the M3 :tongueclosed:
Yes, i thought yours might have done a little more actually, wasn't affected by not having the PSE on at all? If the changes over the "S" are breathing related...
Last Saturday was the annual ClioSport rolling road meet at Surrey Rolling Road.
Rather amusingly, this year there was only 5 clio's out of 22 cars 😂
Think i need to get my camber arms on the rear (its over -2), bit too much negative for my liking, i prefer it to be more like -1...
Was a great turnout, very pleased with my 232.9bhp/230lbft, not bad seeing as its supposed to be 211 as standard. Shame i didn't get a "before" modifications, but that result with such basic mods is very pleasing. Especially when you consider the amount of work the R53 took to get to 220 or so...
In general, i find that the only way to know a job has been done properly is to do it myself.
The M3 will get serviced at BMW, purely for resale. Hopefully ill be able to buy the oil (ECP) & parts (from Cotswold BMW), then pay my local dealer the labour for the service/stamp. With a new RS3, id...
Im not sure tbh, @Nick172Cup sold it to @Kelv & he track prepped it, but his mate blew the engine up or something. No idea after that
Yup!! Trophy V1. Im not sure who was more gutted when it met its fate, you or me 😂
Are you saying a car with very good Bilstein suspension & a very good LSD is no better than a standard car? Assume you've not driven a car with an LSD then lol. When i fitted the Quaife to the R53, it quite literally transformed it, might as well have added an extra 100bhp. This corsa is a great...
The GP2 uses Bilstein, which i was considering, but they all seem to have issues with the front dampers rattling, so i decided against them. Next choice was BC Racing, partly as ive got Meister R's on the R53, but secondly as Orranje had 10% off, but im glad i waited & went for the Ohlins. I've...
Thats pretty poor tbh, £1500 & £299 is the norm for the basic 3dr. Look up TRL on Babybmw, -23% off list last time i looked.
Not from the factory, but its a dealer fit option.
OP - 5dr in white is a great choice tbh. What colour leather? Boring black, pimp red or weird oyster (with white...
Ha ha, no chance. Love this thing!!
More OEM style modding at the weekend ... a 10mm drop using Ohlins Road & Track Coilovers.
During fitting:
All done, marginal drop compared to other brands, but meh, nobody complains about the Megane Trophy-R:
First impressions are very much WOW. Quite...
Theres plenty of people on here that would help though. Ive been with @Budgie when hes been pulling things apart & it doesnt look that hard tbh. Clios are a piece of pi55 compared to sodding minis lol
1. James5_GTT - Renault 5 GT Turbo
2. TimR26 - Megane R26
3. green - Ph1 172
4. Budgie - E46 M3
5. Luke - MX5
6. Sir Dave - M3 V8 or R56 fJCW
7. Martin - Cayman R
8. Martin - M3 V8
9. Martin - 135i

12. just-that-ek

Yes, they really need lowering, sit soo high from the factory, quite ridiculous in fact!!
Standard for standard, the R56 is far better, it uses the rear suspension setup from the R53 GP1, so is better than all the other R53 out of the box imho. The adjustability on the limit is similar to the...
Thanks! Its a beautifully engineered piece of kit tbh, as i put it together you can really see how well designed/thought out it all is compared to alternatives. As standard (as i'm sure you're aware), the scoop doesn't do anything at all, so the AEM channels the air directly from it directly...
Yeah, a few pennies spent, but nothing that i cant get back via selling the parts on again, i only tend to buy 2nd hand/bargains remember ...
Barring the clutch/flywheel of course, but that was factored in when i bought it originally :tonguewink:
Ha ha, the other one is just sat around looking...
A friend has just gone from an Evoque to an RS3 as it happens.
He said to me he wished he had done it sooner - only does 20k a year though, not the 50k or whatever daft figure it is you do these days.
So i get back from 2 weeks away in Sri Lanka and its the Mini that i grab the keys to, not the M3 :tongueclosed:
Couple more odds & sods bought whilst i was away, hopefully collection/delivery will occur in the next couple of days:
"Lounge" leather rear seats - hate the non-matching fabric rear...
lol, welcome to leaseclub.
I had the same issue with my M135i, & that was a manual lol. All the changes that it needed to make it better, i couldnt make!!
