It is frightening that theres no expiry date on passenger vehicle tyres. Tyre degradation has so many variables though. As above a 2 year old tyre can show signs yet the spare tyre in my 13 year old Skoda and 16 year old Toyota are in perfect looking condition. I've even driven on the Skoda spare.
If left to the elements brake pads deteriorate, especially track pads. You think of the cold, hot, wet, dry cycles they go through along with them sticking to discs with surface rust and being ripped away when moving away.
I found Ferodo the worst for deteriation.
3 years wow, just buy new pads and stop whinging about it. They've more than done there job. Yellows are like cheese and wear very quickly IME, I used a full set in 1 track day in my old Mazda 6 MPS and half a set recently in my MR2 at a Bylton shakedown...shite pads!
If they've only got 20k on them and are in good condition (not leaking and no rust on the shafts) then save your money and leave as is. Remember you'll need to pay for fitting if you can't do it yourself and also have alignment done after which all adds up.
No doubt there'll be other stuff to sort.
You might as well get a set of Bilstien B14s as no doubt the dampers and springs will need refreshing if not already done so. If they have been recently refreshed just get a set of springs, Cooksport always get good reviews or leave it and spend the money on other stuff that needs refreshing.
Ahh s**t luck mate. Had exactly the same happen to mine. Engines are relatively cheap to buy used and if you can fit it yourself even better.
I broke mine but it had lots of expensive mods so got a good chunk of money back.
Until a few weeks ago I would have disagreed with this and did to an extent in a previous thread, but myself being new to RWD on track I agree that it takes much more skill and balls to pedal something RWD to its limit over FWD. I'm only driving something with the same torque as a lawnmower on...
Whatever the brakes are from Meg 225, Clio 200 etc just add that car to ECP site and cross reference the OE code and sizes.
Yeah just remove your fogs and front arch liners as this does help reduce heat slightly, but I guarantee the issue is those pads. A new set lasted me less than 20 laps on...
Honestly mate just ditch the Brembo OE pads, they are utter dog s**t. Try a set of OE pagid pads from ECP/GSF first before splashing out on track pads. With your bigger set up they will run cooler than the standard set up so no real need for fancy pads for the road IME. Do you have brake ducting...
Mine did this when cold, it was the pre lambda sensor. If like the Phase 2 you can swap the pre and post lambda around to see if that's your issue.
Nothing worse than firing the parts cannon at these old Renaults to no avail :(
You're 'supposed' to be as upright as possible with your arms at a 90 degree angle and your wrists should be able to bend over the top of the wheel.
Like yourself this wasn't comfortable for me so I've got mine as tilted back as possible.
I'd only ever contemplate the ring through a TDO, no way would I turn up on these TF days. It not me I'd be worried about its all the other clowns out there.
