Yeah mate if possible, not in the rain though. Just 5-10 high speed stops in a short time building up the pedal pressure each time with the last one around 80% of full pressure without getting the ABS kicking in. Then leave to fully cool preferably overnight, they will have had a full heat cycle...
So a lot more talent needed making it a 10 times more exciting as death is a likely scenario!
I grew up in this era with my old man owning an intergale HF, RS200 and Audi quattro so I'm probably bias
Group B all the way! No aero, no aids, no trick flappy paddles, just man and machinery in (utterly bonkers) harmony. Yeah they might not be as fast as the modern day cars but who cares with how they sounded!
Welcome along fellow Northwester. Loving the Lotus, I've just bought a MR2 2ZZ for track days.
I wouldn't be spending £10k on a Clio as you'll just be tentative like you are in the Lotus. £5K max and for that you would get a belting track spec Clio. Forget FI as well IMO as it just adds to it...
Seems quite common with the 2ZZ Lotus Exige as well due to heat and expansion/stretching of the cables and linkages.
Weather is cooling down a bit this week so I'll get some heatproof sleaving for the cables, exhaust wrap for the manifold and hopefully this will help.
No mate, still the same. Car has just had a new clutch and flywheel also.
When it doesn't engage if you shake the gear stick in neutral it goes in then. Also it jams up at low or high revs when hot.
So the issues have started already ?
Posted this on MR2OC but no hits, and I know you lot are a knowledgeable bunch.
Having real problems up shifting into 5th and down shifting into 4th with extended spirited driving.
Gears are fine when the car is cold and warming up, but after 5-10 minutes...
Yes fill it to max, replace the lid and run the car until it drops to min, rinse and repeat until it sits at max. Squeezing the coolant pipes help speed the bleeding up as well.
Yeah Ive read there's a lot more work involved with the K20 swap and as you say unless you could do it yourself then its not worth the extra dollar for 10hp.
Seen this yeah, rapido! They say the K20 is much quicker than the 2ZZ in the MR2 W30...we'll have to see about that! :sneaky:
Danny's is KPRO'd as well so probably running 220hp...
Unlucky mate, I feel your pain. Happened twice to me in 300 miles. First it snapped the belt bending valves, then straight after the re-build dropped a valve seat :cautious:
