Most car enthusiasts these days prefer following social media trends or quick information rather than learning hands-on or seeking advice from experts.
They are a marketer's dream.
It makes sense to stand on a hill, watch a kid in a Clio winning races in a novice championship, and then...
Recently fitted a pair of PS3s on my 182 – ancient tyres, for an ancient car, but they perform exceptionally well. Had Continental PC 6 and PS4 on my Proceed GT; both were excellent.
Tried Yokohama, Kumho, and Avon on the 182, but nothing felt right. As soon as you meddle with the factory...
I assume you’re wanting an unmolested one?
A few pop up every now and then but you’ve really got to watch what you’re buying. Underbody corrosion is an issue now. Some genuine parts are NLA, some aftermarket parts are NLA. So be prepared to restore some second hand parts.
I bought mine 2...
My new car which I bought a few months back after flogging the old one.
I’ve been squirrelling away parts to convert it for circuit use as it’s previously been dancing in Hillclimbing Championships.
It hasn’t been fully stripped out like my old one, which is something I prefer, and has a...

Although the nut on mine was so rusty it rounded off and was just spinning. I was hoping to loosen the bolt just enough so I could grind the head off the bolt. No luck in my case. It’s at this point things started to get bodgy. Engine out 🤦🏻♂️
When I was restoring mine, I got 3 out but there’s always one. It was so bad I ended up taking the engine out. A bit extreme but I was getting so frustrated with it I didn’t want to end up butchering it.
With the engine out I managed to get a ring spanner on it, but even that was a pain.
I...
I’m not sure TBH. Check the yellow dot is lined up on the sensor. Stick the wheel back on and give it a run. Sometimes they can reset themselves, but usually need a diagnostic and codes clearing.
He said in his post “I can’t take it back to the garage that fitted it as they are 200miles away.”
I didn’t see his other reply about asking the chap he bought it from. I misread it.
Looking at no.2, have you checked under car to see if you’ve got oil leaks?
I’ve seen LUK clutches go but they tend to be under a lot of stress I.e Trackdays/Racing.
I appreciate it’s a long way to go back to the garage, but if it was me that’s what I’d do. Let them sort it out.
Took my original 182 axle down to a lad in the town to get it shot blasted. For £20 it was the best money I’ve spent.
I’ve never seen a serial number on one of these before, they’re usually that rusty.
The spring pads are in such good condition. The best I’ve seen.
Everywhere is just...
Finally i‘ll be able to say “up yours” to Virgin as CityFibre have now installed new fibre optic cables in my area. It means I have a choice of 8 different providers. I can get 900MB for £29 with no set up fee. I’m currently paying £36 for 125MB.
Hopefully it’ll wake the chumps up and their...
Have a look at the work these guys produce. https://youtube.com/@yorkshirecarrestoration?si=YweQitIXKhSxgIrQ
If I was getting any fabrication work done, this is the level I’d want.
I've only really used Bilt Hamber and some Dinitrol products but if a company didn't use those, it wouldn't stop me from using them. They'll all have their preferences anyway.
For me, it's all in the preparation.
Concerning areas that may not be obvious, these cars are showing their age now...
I've always done my own, but I guess if I was sending it to a repairer I'd be discussing the specific areas that you want treating, what products and methods they use and what sort of warranty/guarantee they provide.
I've seen a few cars done locally and they're horrendous. They sprayed...
