I had a 1.2 Clio as my first car. I didn't waste money on things like coilovers etc, as it's still going to be slow no matter what. I just saved my money and got a 182 when I had years of driving under my belt. You can still be 'proud' of it, but that doesn't mean you have to but loads of mods...

Don't bother modding a 1.2.

I took my clio with T1Rs around the ring for 5 laps, seemed pretty good to me. But as you say, they're getting more expensive.

If you're after 'show' then they aren't the best. If you're human and you want 'go' then they're better.
