As above give it a blowjob. Usually loads of extra shite comes out of the matrix, rad and block when you do it so its worth doing. It also doesnt matter if you dont get all of the water out with normal coolant. Only need it fully drained if using fancy stuff.
Sent it as pretty low torque value. I didnt consider differences due to the leverage, any sums needed? All new stuff to me, im used to sticking a socket on the torque wrench. Ican tighten stuff up by feel good but as i have torque values to hand seems sensible to use them.
Ive been looking at them on ebay, ill take a punt for occasional use. Was ideal earlier to torque up a couple of sensors where deep socket would not fit.
Any recommendations for a set of half decent 3/8 crows feet spanners? Used a lambda sensor crows feet spanner to torque something up earlier and i think i should add a set to the toolbox for occasional use..
I also started the current engine up for the last time before it gets pulled out. No reason to start it but was nice for motivation purposes.
Its not been started since last September and fired first crank.

Cosworth pistons slappy as f**k...
Small job today.
Went in the dead F4r pile in the garage to grab some bolts and a crank pulley. Crank pulley was seized as usual and with it being keyed cant knock it round, and cant get a normal puller on it.
Knocked up a simple puller that bolts to the pulley using some 4mm flat bar...

Only used the Extra once since the France/Germany trip and that was to pick up a set of cup2's for the Kangoo, mid October iirc. Check out the size difference between the 13" gtt spare and the 18's
Its currently sat sorned in the garage until the weather picks up.
Mrs got me a...
Updates
Motivation to go in the garage was very low over xmas so didnt get anything done. Now the new year has ticked over, ive finally got my arse into gear.
Mot runs out in April and i need it up and running soon ish so i can just get it straight out on the road to run the new engine in...
All went smoothly on install thanks for the advice everybody.
Ive uploaded the arp instructions on here for anybody if they are needed in the future (y)
Just been reading the comments about the milwaukee m12 ratchets. I have the fuel long reach one and it struggles to crack off most bolts, so i end up cracking off then unwinding using it. Wonder if its fucked or am i expecting too much from it.
Kangoo or kubistar only for electric hpas pump as far as i know.
If you want another option, maybe look at the mercedes electric hpas pumps as easily available
I thought it seemed like a lot but now ive sat down and thought about it, its prob not too bad.
60ft/lb not too bad, Similar to what i do the 12.9 high tensile gtt head bolts up to. Book figure is 44ft/lb on stock bolts from memory.
Good shout. I was thinking about doing first 35 then let it settle for a few mins, check torque is still 35 then go last 2 stages.
Its a pain on these once cam cover is on cant get to head bolts. On the older stuff ive always checked torque after run in.
Spot on, cheers mate. Its my first go with arp head studs. I was not expecting the old way of torquing down, reminds me of doing the r5gtt head bolts so thought it was best to confirm.
Next question, 11mm socket, or imperial? They both seem to fit OK. I take it that imperial is right, with them...
Evening all.
Quick one regarding arp head stud install on the F4R. Ive read the arp instructions and it says lube up with arp lube, wind hand tight into the block, and torque down to 105ft/lb in 3 stages compared to the usual angle tighten that is specced with stock bolts.
Is it as simple as...
Matching pairs per axle. I doubt you will notice a difference where either are fitted.
Id start looking for a matching set so you have 7j all round. See the occasional single trophy wheel come up
Look bang on them Nick.
Orange dci went straight through its mot today. Mot testers comments, clean for an old car. Had tracking done whilst there as it had gone out a bit on drivers side. Not sure if anybody else has the same.issues but feel like im forever getting the tracking done on the...
I have the milwaukee m12 heated zip up hoodie, bought it a few years ago its been great, hardwearing too still looks good. Only downside is battery location as it digs into your side if you get in the car with it on.
Its not necessary to do it, but its nice. Id imagine most mid range scanners might be able to reset fuelling adaptives.
I reset the throttle adaptives on mine whilst in and it ran class, the throttle was so responsive.
