Speed differential over a lap was 19% between Chrissie and Simon. The average for a multi-class championship is roughly between 20-25%.
Many race series need to be multi-classed to be financially viable, it happens all the time and is no different at Castle Combe, it's part of racing.
If...
Check out the pic on the Combe forum, really resonated with me...

Glancing in her mirror with the Evos in the distance, really strong picture when you know what is about to happen, has just as much as impact as the...
Indeed, they are linked to our Lackham Campus (Lacock) which is only a few minutes up the road. They published some of the pics I've got of their cars on track in the latest Wiltshire College publication today, so proud ;)
Not a problem with Combe, very open racing club. Quite a few drivers post their races on the CC Forum the day after a meeting, Radical laps in the Special GTs are insane, soooooo fast!
We've built a Motorsport Engineering School at Castle Combe, very very popular, get students from all over the country. Students build and maintain race cars, they do customer cars but also run their own in the Castle Combe Championships and further afield. Last time I checked we have a Ultima...
Must be going some, I've seen Paul J in his standard 182 do a 1:28/29ish on R888s and he was absolutely flying. I seem to remember yours being very quick though, black wheels right?
Will be an interesting challenge to address, particuarly when you consider that two of the 'old school' Saloon Car drivers in Class B can actually lap the circuit fractionally slower than the Class A cars. Tim Hanlon (very very talented driver) finished amongst them at the last meeting in his...
Other way round really, the Class A (4WD, although just all Evos now) is a new addition to the series due to Keith Murray building an insanely fast Audi about 2 years ago. The series has always been about well prepared hot hatches (205s, Minis, Ibizas, MG ZRs etc), the Class A cars would be...
We've had a long discussion about this in Spotted (so understandable that it was missed!)

Also, some discussion on the CC forum including thoughts of a few drivers...

Season is over now (as it is pretty much everywhere) but each year you get a full calendar at the end of Feb on the Castle Combe site, then about two weeks before each event you can download a full entry list (timetable and every single car/driver entered) from the site as well.
Cheers mate, that was going into Tower, it's very very quiet down there! Can get good 'going into the corner' shots or you can swivel round and get head-on braking shots (i.e. pic 2, the Civic), quite a nice little spot when you've only got 280mm to play with :)
Black 182 ending with ELM, Thursday or Friday evening coming back from Chippenham (towards Trowbridge), pulled out to overtake despite a car coming head on, then tried to swerve in but obviously we were right there. Hit the brakes hard to let him back in and thankfully we all got away from a...
^^^ Completely agree (as do most of the Combe regulars), the fact that he should have been giving the place back to Prebble before Camp because he completely cut Bobbies chicane is just another reason why it could and should have been avoided.
This on top of the other huge Evo crash this...
No crash pics, but I tried out a few different spots yesterday and enjoyed some very competitive racing...
Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship
Castle Combe Special GT Championship
Formula Ford
Tour de Combe
and the...
Cool pics, used my last season pass for Combe yesterday as well, going to be a long dark winter!
I've never seen the Fun Cup in action, heard some good things about it though.
Indeed, but the Evos power is gained within the fairly strict regs that everyone works by, it's only when they are highly modified that they would need to move to GTs. Tim Hanlon nearly kept up with the Evos at the last meeting in his Ibiza 1.8, in no small part to him being a very very good...
s***s me up big time seeing those pics, that fence was only installed last winter. God only knows what would have happened if this occured a year ago, not even worth thinking about.
Speed differential in the Saloons has got to be looked at for next season, massive grids is great but not when...
What happened to Chrissy (106)? Didn't see that.
Also which car did Simon tangle with, the Civic? I saw it happen but was on the opposite side so hard to see exactly what was going on, just a car flying through the air and tonnes of smoke everywhere.
No this is a slightly more race-able car, none of that Time Attack nonsense! Putting out about 500bhp I think, he runs it in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship.
I'll put some photos up later tonight but here is the car...
Both spotted today at the Combe, tidy Black Ph1 172 (pretty rare sight) and a Monaco 172 in Quarry Car Park.
I came home after the biggest crash possibly ever witnessed at Combe (Simon Norris in his Evo, crashed with one of the other Evos, both drivers ok I believe but the new pit-lane...
As mentioned in the other thread, this was after 20k with no track use...
Doesn't look too bad in the pic but it felt awful. Literally appeared within a few days after a hot summer.
Yup, our work bought the very last MG ZR built by the MG Racing Division from there, mint car...
If I won the lottery do you reckon I could get the SVA signed off for that DBR9?!
