Re: clio cup race car project!
Wow! Superb base for a project.
Bit different to what he drives now...

I'm guessing it's at a relatively high state of tune? A rally car would be serviced/rebuilt etc on a relatively frequent basis, but we would expect ours to last 150k with a once over every 12 months.
Kia supplied the safety car to Castle Combe this season, CCRC fettled with it a bit and it looks really tidy.
It's one of these:

and now looks like this (I don't have a pic that does it justice, but this gives you an idea):
It seems to be following the 182 Cup idea of being a cheap alternative to the 'main' car, and we all know how well that sold...although the white paint will probably make up the sales as much as anything.
I can't see why they didn't go to town on it, just feels a little half-hearted...
Kidding right?! How do they do it?
60mph always came around far too quickly in the Cup, I can't imagine what being stuck at 45mph would be like, takes less than 6 seconds from standing!
Eh?! This is what happened to the 172 Cup aside from the height/camber/track changes...
Spare wheel removed (replaced by 2 anti-puncture inflators)
Air conditioning removed
Side airbags removed
Xenon headlamps removed
Auto-lights removed
Headlight washers removed
Rear headrests...
Mint car, the 'new' style alloys really set it off, I was never a big fan of the originals.
Stunning pics from a camera phone as well, last one is superb :)
Re: found this link tonight...has anyone seen it before?
Every car I've ever owned is still insured! I sold a Clio in 2002 with 105k on it, god knows what it must be on now.
Me and Matt182 are from Westbury (Matt has the LY 197 F1 Team, did have the Inferno 182 now on sale at Plat Trowbridge), Spaced (Trophy) is from Trowbridge but doesn't come on here much now, Ash87 is from Warminster (his Dad owns a Trophy, works at Plat Chippenham)
If anything I would say the newer cars are further from a hot hatch than the 172s/1.8s/VTS/GTi etc of days gone by(!).
When we start looking for a new car we will be more interested in the so-called 'warm hatches' these days, Suzuki Swift Sport, Panda 100hp and forthcoming Twingo models. They...
We've got a slightly more realistic set up for a normal size room! Had it for 4 years now but still blows me away, can't wait to get it set up in the new house next week as we've got a room set aside dedicated for movies/games.
Panasonic 28" Quintrix TX-28PL1 TV
Still prefer CRTs, this one...
Have you seen Mark Funnel's? Completely road legal (he drives it to and from Combe from Trowbridge for every race meeting, doesn't have a trailer) and he runs it in the Castle Combe Special GTs.
When the Lotus on Track Trophy came to Combe he entered and won both races, and still did his...
I'm down near the football ground, moving to Paxcroft Mead over in Trowbridge next week though, will make life easier as I work at the College and it will be much quicker to get to Combe of a weekend :)
A touring car isn't road legal, the Caparo can be purchased with SVA approval and therefore would be perfectly legal to drive on the road in anything you choose to wear, not unlike a Caterham, Atom etc. I'm not sure if deliveries have started, but had this not happened you or I (with appropriate...
