Why is driving a road car in an almost excessively safe environment any more or less dangerous than any other activity that somebody might get up to? It was a freak incident that should not have happened, nothing more. Certainly not worth laughing at -as you did- anyway.
Harsh as f**k, to be honest, nobody deserves what he went through (the injuries are truely nasty). How do you know that job is motivated by money anyway? I imagine anyone who loves driving would jump at the chance of having a Top Gear style role, driving the best new cars etc.
The fact that...
It's what I want, but the dish is an issue so I have to look at alternatives. I haven't looked to see if others have a dish yet but I assume most people just ignore that particular rule, vast majority of houses in the area are £250k + and I can't imagine they are all just watching Freeview!
Any ideas? We really wanted cable but it's not installed in our new house.
Looking for the following:
Internet: At least 2MB and at least 40GB data-transfer per month.
Phone: Not too fussed, but free evening and weekend calls would be nice
TV: Not bothered either way, will probably...
I usually sit on the fence and appreciate most things, but I hate HDR with a passion, particuarly overdone stuff. Flickr is full of photos tarted up with heavy handed HDR to mask a crap original photo. Done well it gives you an image of what we actually see with our eyes (as cameras will always...
6mp is plenty, I wouldn't spend the extra personally. I've had images published in a magazine at A3, and had several pictures blown up onto canvas etc for people and I've never had any quality issues (I use a D50, same sensor as the D40 irrc). If you take a sharp picture it will do you well up...
Hard to say as I never saw the 172s at Thruxton and that circuit is unlike most others. However I did have a quick look at Quali times at the circuits in 2006 compared to 2007 and there is absolutely nothing in it, virtually down to 10ths of a second in similar conditions, right from 100mph...
Shutter Priority 100% of the time, to be honest I don't know why the article would say Aperture Priority as I can't really see any logical reason for it, the one thing you always want control of is shutter speed.
The really high 3 wheel action is due to striking the kerb, but evry car was already on 3 wheels entering the corner, so much fun to watch. Most of the drivers said they were much easier to control than the 172s they used to run.
This would have been my shot of the year had it been sharper...
So the marshals know where to aim their hooks, speeds things up, particuarly when racing and they need to clear cars that have gone off the track quickly.
Still got my trusty Nikon D50 (40,000 shutters and counting, it's getting old!), use my equally trusty second-hand Nikon 80-200 2.8 AF-S which I love to bits despite being far too short for motorsport.
It all better last at least another couple of years as we've just bought a house and are...
Nothing wrong with modding, but those lights just look plain dangerous. One area of the law I would never argue with is things like lights/reflectors etc.
I just hope you never get crashed into, your insurance is essentially void.
They look pretty good on the web, but they wouldn't be good enough to make into wallpapers or anything like that, anything over 800x600 and they are mostly a bit iffy, should be fine to print at my normal 6x9 though.
Got a good position at the Chicane initially but gradually got fed up of all...
How do you mean? I was there 9am - 4pm today, I usually just wander around the circuit and find a few good spots during the day, then I probably spend half the time taking pics and half the time watching properly. I only went to two places at Thruxton today, the Chicane first thing but then it...
Popped down to Thruxton today for the BTCC quali, Clio Cup pictures are here, but here are a few BTCC and other support race photos...
The rest are here:

To put it simply, it cost just under £1000 altogether! Worth every penny, but getting worried that most phone-cameras have started to nearly catch up with my 6MP resolution ;)
Nikon D50, and I use a Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 AF-S lens. Not the best pics I've taken quality wise (not very sharp at all, the fine fog that wouldn't lift for hours didn't help) but the action makes up for it.
A day of firsts for me, Thruxton (strange as it's only 35 minutes down the road), British Touring Cars, and also seeing the new Clio Cup series for the first time.
It all started so well...
and then...
and because we all loves flames and 3...
