Been a good month for Cliosport stuff to photograph for me, had the superb Airfield day a few weeks back and now Eurofest. Relatively small turnout from the SW boys and girls but a great day anyhow, fantastic weather and some stunning cars out on track. As usual the morning seesions were pretty...
After seeing Red in the metal I would go with that everytime, and I'm not usually a red car fan. Looks amazing with the dark wheels on the R27.
Still love the Yellow as well though, this is the closest I've got to capturing the 'real' colour in the sun so far...
Interesting, I was under the impression that virtually every lens going from the likes of Sigma, Tokina and Tamron have made it to both Canon and Nikon for a long time now, I can't remember any that have been announced but not with a Nikon mount, and can't find any on the Sigma website that is...
Pete makes a good point, if you are a 50mm lover like me (and trust me, if you use one you will love it!) it will only work manually on the D40. You have to be a bit more careful with lens selection compared to the 350D.
If I personally was in the market now instead of a year ago I would find...
Can of worms! Whilst the 350D is still an excellent camera, it is now an 'old' model at well over 2 years old, where as the D40 is Nikons latest DSLR, and technology does move at quite a pace. Going from a compact though the Nikon would probably be the easiest to get the hang of, as it has an...
Amazing car, only just discovered this! Read the full 25 pages of the original thread just now. Quite surprised at how cheap this project appears to have been as well.
Funny as reading all the opinions, 'this bit looks s**t', 'I would paint this bit, looks rubbish otherwise' etc etc (about 10...
My god this place generates a lot of traffic, got my reports up today and discovered I had over 27,000 hits on the Airfield Gallery since Sunday night and 400 pictures have been downloaded at original size (3MB+ each)
Over 2.1GB of data transfer in 3 days
Nice pics, I didn't go near Quarry or Bobbies all day so wouldn't have seen you. Get burnt? I did!
Assuming you are all talking about the 106 GTIs Justin, Nick finished 6th in class and Christina in 11th (of 12 starters, one of which was a DNF)
Nikon D50 (old school 6mp, discontinued now ;)), more importantly a Nikon 80-200 2.8 AF-S lens, and that had a Nikon 1.4X Teleconverter bolted on. Still not enough range really (could do with 400mm for most circuits) but ok I guess.
Yep it looks like I am now, tried to get discount tickets for the Britcar 24hr via Evo but that doesn't appear to be happening, so I will be heading to Combe instead.
See you there, we must be due an average slightly cloudly day next, will be great for pics :)
Yep that sounds about right from my memory, Aston can help with the SVA apparently. I'm sure Evo actually drove one on the road at some point.
I can't remember how many he said had been built so far, but it was well under 100.
One of the older Aston's in that race had been raced by the...
Not really much cropping at all, for once my 80-200 was plenty long enough as I could get in pretty close to the action, once things are in range of that beast of a lens there aren't many things that can touch it for sharpness. Easily my sharpest shots yet though considering they were all pretty...
^^ wtf?
Anyhow, nice pics Neil, love the last one especially. If I was to be critical, they are a little dark, but as you've mentioned they were without a tripod so that's acceptable :)
Thanks for the kind comments all.
Steve: Every single pic on my site is uploaded in full (about 3MB each), when you hover over a pic you should get an options box, and you can save the original size file.
Just right click on the pic to bring up the properties, paste the URL into a new window and change the L.JPG to an O.JPG, that should load the full version.
Spent a very hot day at Castle Combe today, didn't bother with too many pics but got a few of the Astons and a few others. One of the few N24s in existence was racing, gorgeous car and amazing sound...

The D200 launched at £1299.99, and the D300 doesn't replace the D200 (sits alongside it) so it makes sense that there is a difference in price, the upgrade is so substantial that they can happily co-exist.
I've not really seen anyone complain about the price to be honest, it's packing most of...
Oddly enough I passed a white Clio full of ladies in Bath on Friday night. They tried to cut in to my lane - without indicating - exactly in the spot where I was in the road. Gave them a blast of my horn and they swerved away and missed their turning.
Great shots mate, seeing these I'm going to give my Sigma 70-300 a workout tomorrow at Castle Combe, forgot how good it is and the extra reach will be nice.
Thanks for the comments, really pleased with them. When I look back at the Airfield pics from a couple of years ago it's great to see the difference.
and yes, off the deck...
huge pic warning
First and last time I'm positioning myself there though, great angle for pics but too risky...
Another superb Airfield day (my 6th) over and done with. Weather was stunning, track was in the best condition I can remember (not much dust, moss etc) and we just about got a reasonable number of cars in the end.
Anyhow, pics below, now I've got a good sharp lens you can see many peoples...
