All your tinkering makes me feel like i'm neglecting mine lol.
Have now driven the Mini once since July, seriously considering selling it & spending all the proceeds on the M3 😂
The highly strung N/A lumps always had the running in oil changed at 1200 miles, understandable as they are rather special engines.
With the turbo'd modern ones, i'm not so sure tbh, the M135i has pretty much the same engine as the M3/4 and doesn't need the change.
You are supposed to drive it...
Yeah, mostly still enjoying it, although Sarah hates the jerky gearbox. I have to keep going the longway home (motorway) to remind myself that the SMG is fine when pushing on. Its nice not having to use the clutch in traffic jams, but from first>second gear it is very jerky, just like any BMW...
Possibly, depends on how clever the ecu is i guess, personally, i prefer to have it all done, then not bugger about with it.
My was originally mapped with a s/c belt that had done 10k miles, i fitted a new belt, which was clearly alot tighter, the car produced more boost and the maps fueling...
Based on my blue/grey ones, since both of them have been modified from standard:
162bhp - standard (£ free)
197bhp - 15% pulley, colder plugs (£250)
207bhp - as above, plus dave f airbox, GRS motorsport intercooler, milltek cat back exhaust (another £650)
228bhp - all the above, plus Newman...
Personally, id cancel the order, i had 1144's all round on the standard setup on my first grey mini, was still poop.
Just upgrade to R56S on the front, even with standard discs/pads they are a million times better than the OEM stuff, like the clio's, the rears do 9/10 of bugger all, so just...
Personally i think this is a prime example of a great car/sticky tyres masking an underlying inability to drive.
Doesnt look up the road far enough, not aware of the hazards, poor road craft when under yellows, seems unaware of the grip levels, just poor all round imho.
When i was looking at e92 M3's, if i bought under 60k miles, fully comp warranty was circa £85 a month, then £500 a year tax, then similar cost for tyres as your 335i. Fuel in the M3, if you're getting 24 out of the 335i, you'd be on high teens in the M3. Essentially running costs wise, id say...
So today some purchases turned up, nothing massively exciting, just minor changes to solve things that were irritating me:
1. Bosch Aero Wipers - so that i can actually see, instead of looking at a sea of smears each morning
2. Intravee ll, Alpine KCA-420i, 5V adapter, velcro pads & a rear...
Once you fit coilovers, adjustable top mounts/rear control arms and some decent tyres, the extra chassis rigidity & better steering of the mini make it better on track imho ... as long as you set it up for "maximum oppo" anyways ... standard for standard, or half-arsed on the mini and the clio...
I couldn't face that every single day lol.
I'd have to either clean it or offer to buy it off her to move it!! Its devaluing your property FFS 😂
Perhaps your lawnmower could catch fire next to it next time you mow the lawn?
Love these!! My boss had one back in 2006, stupid fast thing, although his latest e63 is even more daft. Contemplated getting one before the M3 tbh, 'tis on the "family car" list lol ...
Lovely looking car this, best colour combo imho!! I much preferred my grey one to the current blue shed.
Although, as standard, i do prefer the chrome 😌
Before refurbing the wheels, perhaps change to the other style 17s, they are considerably lighter!!
Most of that list is good, i'd...
So, not much change with the mini as of late.
It got parked up after Donington (at the end of July), didnt get used at all through August (we were in Bali for most of it), then i tried to start it a couple of weeks ago (end of September) and it was as dead as a dodo. Jumped it off the 135i but...
