This little bucket of fun really does make me wonder why so many people are scared of higher mileage cars.
I honestly believe that an RS with correct servicing and maintenance gets better with miles.
Dislike.
I hate it when the dials are bright- i have them turned down as low as possible on mine- i like to see the road without someone shining a f**king maglite in my face, lol.
Approx £450 all in.
Clutch kit is about £110. If it's never been done, I'd also recommend changing the gearbox oil while it's out too (Approx another £25)
Can go after 50k, can last 180k- all depends on how they're treated.
If you want one done CHEAP, i do them for fun on the driveway. I'm in...
Cheapest way to fix it would be buy a second hand engine for approx £300 and have someone fit it for cheap. If you can get the car to Surrey, I'll supply and fit an engine for £500. 70k. FSH and had cambelt done 2 years ago..
Unless a pulley is slipping around the belt, the cam wouldn't turn if the engine seized. You'd definitely get noises especially if on the motorway at what i presume to be 3k revs+
Shameless plug, but if either of you do need an engine, drop me a PM
182 is twin cam, yeah.
If it was something big (ie, cambelt- you'd have probably heard some horrible noises).
The belt he'll be able to see is the aux belt.
Simples.
Two clips on back of airbag. Unplug the wire.
Then big T50 (I think) torx screw holding the wheel on. Might need a bit of wiggling/rocking to get it off- sometimes they get a bit sticky.
